Sales of the USWNT jersey have outpaced all other U.S. soccer jerseys, including those of the men's team, according to statistics from Nike and Fanatics, the two licensed sellers.

Nike said in its earnings report that the women's 2019 stadium home jersey is now the No. 1-selling soccer jersey, men's or women's, ever sold on Nike.com in one season. Fanatics said this is the top-selling U.S. Soccer national team, men's or women's, of all time, with sales more than 500% greater this year vs. the same period (through the semifinals) in 2015.

Its no surprise that they are beloved. Americans are used to thinking they are the good guys when really they aren't.

The USWNT exemplifies everything gross about American bravado. Of course they are eating it up.

I've actually come around on the USWNT. They're just flat-out better than the others in the competition and frankly I'm in favour of their push for gender equality. I obviously thought it was distasteful that they were celebrating every goal in the 13-0 trouncing they gave Thailand, but I got over it. I thought that the Alex Morgan tea drinking celebration was hilarious, and like I say....they're just plain good.

That's why I hate them. They are good. I hate it when the USA is good at sports as much as I hate it when Edmonton good at sports.

It’s not hard to be good when you receive more funding than probably all of the other top 5 teams in the World combined.

I think the ref in the Netherlands-Sweden match put in a bet on the Netherlands. Holy smokes the foul calls have been one sided

VAR takes another goal away. The implementation has really been terrible as this one wasn’t egregious (like a number of these calls). I’m not even sure you could conclusively say it hit the girls arm/hand.

What they should do is watch the game tape with the VAR refs and award and revoke goals after the fact so they can text the teams later.

"Yeah....so...we decided that that goal didnt count and you actually lost. Sorry about that...."

LYON, France -- Despite a proposal announced on Friday by FIFA president Gianni Infantino to invest $1 billion in the women's game over the next four years and double prize money at the Women's World Cup in 2023, U.S. captain Megan Rapinoe said women soccer players are not respected equally by their sport's international governing body.

"It certainly is not fair," Rapinoe said of the gap in prize money awarded at the men's and women's World Cups. "We should double it now and use that number to double it or quadruple it for the next time. That's what I mean when we talk about, 'Do we feel respected?'"

FIFA doubled the 2015 prize money for the Women's World Cup to $30 million in 2019 and raised the amount awarded to the winning team to $4 million. At last year's men's World Cup, France received $38 million for winning the title from a $400 million purse, and earlier this year, FIFA announced it would raise the men's pool to $440 million for 2022. That means that while the women's purse will increase to a proposed $60 million in 2023, the gap between the men and women will increase the next time around.

Then sell more tickets and get more money from sponsorships and TV Deals.

I do find it rather ironic that the women are screaming to be 'respected' by demanding that Men give them more money....'just because.'

The Women dont generate anywhere near the revenue and profit as the Men's game does ergo you get less money commensurate to the revenue that you do generate. Gender is immaterial.

Mens world cup pays for all FIFA events combined.

Since 1991 FIFA has created a Womens world cup, added it to the Olympics and a womens u20 world cup.

The first 8 editions of the womens world cup were way better than the first 8 editions of the mens world cup. That thing almost fell apart.

By saying it starts and stops at how much money you bring in, it’s forever condemning professional women athletes doing the same job to make less than men full stop. Gender is material.

Except this whole thing is about World Cup payouts. So why are you referring to revenue from something that isn't relevant?

Nik: its the tennis argument. Men and Women have equal prize money in grand slams.

I think itll get there but small steps. It could be equal in our lifetime

The ATP earns less than twice as much as the WTA.

The mens world cup earns 82 times as much as the womens.

It's not the same universe.
