Cottonwood is fantastic. We should play. VIP gets us on there from time to time.

It's absolutely glorious. I legit felt bad taking a divot or making a ball mark on the greens.

I'm a member there, the course is in great shape right now. Let me know if you ever need a +1 and I'll try to join you.

I am also VIP
And also strongly considering membership there for next year. I played it once this year already and it’s always been one of my favourites.

If you have not played Bearspaw yet, wow what a treat! Hopefully they remain semi-private forever.

I was talking to the GM about the hole rental the other day, it's apparently pretty popular in the US and catching on here. Great way to introduce the kids and grow the game.
Anytime you fellas on VIP golf have a t-time there PM me, I will try to jump in. Quick FYI: I'm a 20 handicap and I swear like a sailor.
And if anyone here is interested in a membership and wants to play a round let me know, I can either set you up with the GM or take you out for a free 18. They're being pretty aggressive in trying to bring on younger members, and they have a lot to offer potential members who are serious. I haven't bought my equity (yet) but they have been REALLY good to us from day 1, so it's only a matter of time.
Also heard they might expand to 27 holes, so if that happens buying in now would be a good idea.

I know the feeling, I play like a 30 at times and my language would make a sailor blush.

Played Delacour yesterday. Greens are coming around. Still a temp green for #2.
Just got rained out at Sirocco. Greens are beat up from their mens open.

I played yesterday and it is a really nice course. It does need a lot of work though. Driving range is torn up, obviously the new clubhouse is only half done, I didn't see anywhere to get a snack or sandwich or beer ( had a few cans from home though) and there was no marshall or starter on the course.
I walked the course and I would not do it again or recommend it to anyone. It is a long course, probably the longest yardage I have ever played, it has some significant distance between some holes and a lot of elevation change. It felt like we were walking uphill for the entire round. On the front nine they need to add some more course signage as it gets a little confusing with some of the hole clusters.
I would definitely play again as it is a great course and an exceptional bargain at $79 right now.

The new holes at Crowsnest Pass open up this weekend. It'll be tragic to lose #4, but i'm excited to try out the changes. No more highway noise and the best view possible

Yes it is. Toss it on the back hill and let it roll down onto the green

I hit a rock or something about 20 yards to the right of the green in the forest and watched it bounce 5 feet right of the hole. Gonna miss that hole.

Just got back from playing Bearspaw for the first time and I agree - what a treat!
It's a mature, delightful, very well designed parkland course that was more forgiving than I expected. Sure the parking lot is a mess, the driving range is out of action but the course is spectacular for the price. Greens were a little slow but very fair and true. I walked and although it wasn't an easy walk, it was definitely walkable. The only refreshments were at the half way point but I went knowing that so packed accordingly.
It was surprisingly quiet for a beautiful Friday afternoon. It might actually be my favourite course I have ever played in the Calgary area. I'm a little concerned that the Windmill group will buy it and try to develop the land to build more houses but I will be back this summer for sure.

Played today, too. Incredible course, but we were surprised when we got there to see no carts available (because of the heavy rain yesterday). Wow, that's a hell of a walk, lol.
Talked to Barry's (owner of Windmill) son there today, said he was planning to buy the course, complete the clubhouse and would prefer to turn it back to full private. I guess memberships weren't really the issue, so it makes sense.

But man when you combine the long distance holes, the long distance between some holes and the amount of uphill walking, it's a long, grueling round. But so nice, though.
