I believe one of these teams will win the series, that's my bold prediction.

There are no easy matchups in the playoffs, but if the Flames can't handle this team, they don't have what it takes to go all the way anyway, which is what I think we are all hoping for, if not expecting.
I think the season can be considered a success if we can get to the third round, but if you get to that far, you really feel like settling for nothing less than a championship.
So with all that in mind, the Flames should set out to put the Avs down early. 4 or 5 games if they can. Leave something for the big dogs that will be coming down the pipe. Vegas or the Sharks in the 2nd round will be a battle, then you have one of the heavies from the Central to contend with. Gotta get out of this one unscathed. It's the reward for finishing first. Don't waste it.
Flames in 5.

No time change for the two teams as they are both in the Mountain time zone.

Avs fans are happy, they wanted to match up with us we pay a less physical game than the central teams, which makes them see us as a better matchup.
I think the 3M line will be key, in keeping MacKinnon in check and with Tkachuk throwing them off their game. This could well be a series where the 3/4 line come up with timely scoring, as I feel the biggest edge the Flames have here is depth and rolling 4 lines.
It won't be a sweep, but I like the Flames in 5 or 6

I never make predictions for my own team's playoff series, but I will say that this is as confident as I have been as a Flames fan in, well, let's say around 30 years or so.
Who knows, maybe this series goes the distance and the Flames win in OT of game 7 on a fluke goal, and then stomp the rest of the teams they face all the way to the cup.
It's happened before.

FWIW, home games will be
Game 1 - Thursday, April 11 (starting between 7-8)
Game 2 - Saturday, April 13 (starting between 7-8)
Game 5 - Friday, April 19 (starting between 7-8)
Game 7 - Tuesday, April 23 (starting between 7-8)
I’m sure this will be released today but I can confirm to a mod my source.

WCQF: Your Calgary Flames (#1) vs Colorado Avalanche (#8)
If we can’t beat the 8th place team, that required an 8-0-2 run to squeak into the playoffs ahead of Arizona, in a year where the bottom end of the West was atrocious...
The Flames will get dumped on a lot in the next couple of days. Yeah, there’s some question marks — namely goaltending, an ice-cold PP, and a first line that was significantly cooler in the 2nd half — but this is the 2nd place team in the league. We’ve been resting guys for almost two weeks.
We were 3-0 against them and finished with 17 more points. The Avs fans calling this a good matchup for them is rich.
Upsets happen, but this would be a very, very big one.

Apparently, Cale Makar could sign and join the Avs after the Frozen Four, which starts on the 11th

glad it's not the Stars. The Flames usually match up quite well against Colorado I think, and Backlund usually has MacKinnon in his pocket. Secondary scoring is key and I think the Flames' depth in the bottom 6 will give them an edge.
Flames in 6.

My only concern is the goaltending matchup, which is often the key matchup in a playoff series. With Smith and his 0.898 season save percentage, the lowest of any projected playoff starter, Colorado is very much in this series.
Treliving emphasized depth last off-season, and he was right, as that depth carried them all season, and the team won the west in spite of below average goaltending. Ultimately I think their depth, which is superior to Colarado's at almost every position, will win them the series.
Can't wait for Thursday! Go Flames Go!

I advise that you check out San Jose's roster.

Rick Ball, Cassie Campbell-Pascall, and Ryan Leslie will have the call for the Flames/Avalanche series, per Sportsnet.

Given our goaltending I have no lofty expectations. Best goaltending obviously wins and Smith didn’t look that great last night.

Oh you're right. Jones finished the season at 0.896. My mistake. Thank you.
Nevertheless, I still think the goaltending matchup will keep the Avalanche in the series.

Flames should be able to take this one in 5 or so.
The Avalanche only have one line.
If that line doesn't go supernova all series they are cooked.
