The Islanders will need a new GM after this season.
Friends:
With university and work only getting more taxing, it is my regretful duty to inform you all that this will be my final season as the General Manager of the CPHL's New York Islanders.
Over my three-year tenure, the Islanders have made significant advances. We have done our very best to acquire and subsequently trade away the entire league; we have made one draft pick, who we traded within a week; and we reached Game Seven of the CPHL Finals last year. Damn you, Cheese!
As they say, all good things must come to an end. With my Islanders primed for a long and glorious playoff run, now is my time to depart. It's been a good run.
Cheers.
Mike

Damn hate to see you go, easily one of the most active GMs I have seen. Hope to see you back quick.
Good luck with University!

I’m sure we will continue to talk on social media for years to come, but I’m going to miss making trades with ya and seeing you have days where you make 10 trades and end up in cap and conditions hell. Good luck in the playoffs and uni!

Will you be resigning as soon as the season wraps or just ahead of the regular season of next year?
My ask that would be you fill your outstanding conditions before you leave - otherwise this isn't a team that I can easily hand to a new GM.
PM me to discuss further perhaps.

Thanks for all the well-wishes so far, guys. BTW -- I won't resign until I can fulfill all of my pending 2019 conditions, of which I have a few:
- I owe Vancouver a first and two thirds
- I owe Edmonton a third
- I owe Florida a 2019 first unless I want to owe them a 2020 first, so I owe them a 2020 first
I also won't resign until the 2019 conditions owed to me are fulfilled:
- I am owed a third and a fifth by San Jose
- I am owed a third in either 2019 or 2020 by Florida
- I am owed a third by St. Louis both this year and next
This is just to make it fair to the next GM -- I want to leave them with a clean slate, obviously. Have to make it fair.

I'm concerned that even with that you'll be leaving a GM with next to nothing to work with. I always figured that you'd be in it for the long haul so this is disappointing.
My lean right now is to contract the team completely rather than have someone have to take on the mess you leave behind.

Too soon, you still have unfinished business that will haunt you all your days if you don't win the cup
Good luck and have fun, hope to see you back in the future

I take offence to that. A top line featuring Thomas Vanek and Eric Staal will be very desirable for any new GM. Besides, when was the last time a CPHL team was contracted, before I was born?
Seriously I think I've been one of the most successful new GMs this league has ever had. To tarnish my legacy would be an affront to all things holy.

Oh come on. You know you are leaving the next GM with next to nothing to work with. If Eric Staal is your most valuable piece than it's a problem. You'd have to pay ME to take Thomas Vanek.
The only reason you've had any success is because of weird sim chemistry that no one, except Cheese, seems to understand.

Yeah my thoughts exactly. Hate to say it Scorpy but you got bad old guys on terrible contracts and your best prospect is probably the goalie the flames just signed. The next GM is gonna have a fun time having to wait 2 years until the contracts are done

Cripes if you had resigned sooner at least we could have used the deadline to erase some of the long-term damage.
I'm tempted to have the commish team take over immediately so you can't make it even worse.
Sorry just got off guard by all this and a little ticked off.

Reilly Smith is crying in a corner. Some league leadership this is, calling out one of its own managers. Just because all your players are underperforming doesn't mean that it has to be the rule around the league!
Barkov sucks!

Sorry to see you go Scorp, I appreciated your enthusiasm and penchant for dealing. As others have said, you'll be back..... they always come back.
Hard to evaluate Scorp's tenure as GM until this season is over. He took over a dog's breakfast and in a year and a bit turned it into a playoff team. He clearly has sacrificed the future to be competitive now and some of the existing contracts will haunt the next GM, but he didn't have a lot to work with when he started. At some point that team is going to be mired in a multi-year rebuild, probably sooner rather than later.

Sorry to see you go Scorp, but real life always comes first. Was always fun negotiating and making trades with you. Hope to see you back sometime.
