I'm not really liking the way FAA is responding at all. After dropping set point and the following game in the second set, he should have been over this. There's no reason to see this kind of prolonged lull from him in a match of this magnitude.
It's happened. Get over it and regroup. So continues the mystery of Shapo and Felix. How do you look like top 10 talent for 2 sets and then look like an unranked player all in the same match?

Alright let's just bring out Djokovic and Zverev. Felix took a big step forward here but still needs to be better near the end of tournaments. He will get there soon.

Not sure you can say this definitively. As of yet there are far more bad signs of his ability to handle pressure then good signs. Talent isn't the issue, need to get that head together.

He's still only 21, I'm hopeful he figures it out by say 23/24 when he's more mature and can handle pressure better.
Difference in this match is that Medvedev is 5/5 on BPs, he never saved a single BP all match.

Between the ongoing double fault issues and repeated instances of going flat in finals it is definitely concerning.
Today he was showing a ceiling I have never thought he'd reach for about an hour. The last hour has been the exact opposite.

Tbh this is embarrassing for FAA. It's one thing to lose a big point/game against the #2 in the world...that happens. But he has completely fallen apart, and has terrible body language. He lost a point at deuce, on Medvedev's serve, and he pouted.

Yeah we all hope he figures it out. As of yet the signs are far greater that he won't. I don't expect him to bust out prime Federer after gagging that second set away, but he basically quit.

Yeah, not great by Felix after failing to close out set 2, but Medvedev is ranked #2 for a reason. Compared to 12 months ago, Felix's game has improved substantially in that time and he just needs to mature and handle difficult situations better.

Well said. The semi finalists are ranked 1, 2, 4, and 12 (Felix). When Greek Yogurt fell early it was an open quarter bracket for Felix, and he delivered, which is frankly a positive step.
Not sure why the mental game is so different between our Canadian men and women, but generally you learn from experiences and mistakes. So this was a huge tournament for the growth of Felix Auger-Alliassime.

I actually like Medvedev he seems like a good guy so if he ends up winning the whole tournament I'll be very very happy.

Well, it's been an underwhelming day of results for Canadians at Flushing Meadows, here's hoping Djoker can win tonight as while I take issues with some of his decisions, he's a pretty good guy overall and far less detestable than his opponent.

One thing that's possible is Felix is 9th in the Race, with IW coming up I think he can get past Ruud and get that last spot.

He's actually 10th behind Hurkacz and Ruud, but Nadal is 7th and presumably won't be playing. That said, he is defending points (3rd round) at Indian Wells whereas Ruud isn't. Hurkacz is though (QF).
EDIT: I know you don't defend points for the race, it's just you're presumably more motivated to keep them if you've done well there previously.

There is 0% Nadal plays, so only got to get ahead of Hurkacz or Ruud.

Gotta say pretty nervous now. Zverev is hitting pretty clean.

Zverev looks better in the rallies. Djokovic is going to have to rely on drop shots a lot.
