I didn't build one, as my TV doesn't have a built in HD tuner, but there are tons of people all over the net that have and swear by them.

Google it and you will find one that suits your needs.

Anyone have any idea on how to watch NFL games without cable? (aside from an antenna)
I am an occasional viewer, so don't want to buy a full season pass (like I plan to do with NHL). PM me if your method is not CP appropriate.

ctv.ca streamed games last year, may have only been the playoffs can't remember. From what I remember the quality was pretty good with the occasional streaming issue but overall comparable to HD cable.

The Roku 3 is now available in Canada.

I returned my Roku 2XS to Walmart yesterday and as long as the Roku 3 is in stores tomorrow I'll pick one up for the weekend. It's in the Future Shop flyer so I would assume they'll have it in store.

My roku 3 finally arrived. I had ordered it back on August 3 from amazon.com.

I'm having a brutal time getting it to set up for a US account. I'm following the instructions on unblock.us but it's not working.

Any chance someone on here had a similar problem and figured out how to do it?

Otherwise, I'll have CDN netflix upstairs and US netflix downstairs.

(Not sure if against the rules as this is a grey area; e.g. using DNS services for US Netflix)

For those looking for their NFL fix, you can get free NFL Gamepass using a DNS service that can set the Netherlands as your region.

So this weekend, after moving into my house last month and finally hanging my TV last week (took a while to find a couch that fit down my stairs), I will complete my cord-cutted-transformation.
My set up will include:
- Netflix (with unblockus vpn)
- HuluPlus (achieved through prepayed credit cards registered to the US)
and,
- a roof mounted HD antenna, as apparently Toronto can get: ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, Global, and CBC in HD
...
Bring it on winter ...

(edit)
Total cost? Netflix: $15/mth, unblockus: $5/mth, Antenna (mounted by billy-goat-footed-pros): $500
Previous rogers bill: $140/mth
yet to be resolved: HBO

Memory Express has the Roku 3 in stock...not many left though...and it is $10 more than FS...but they will price beat.

I was debating the upgrade to the Roku 3 since the 2XS worked as it should but am very happy now that I have the 3. Had a small issue with Plex with the 3 but I uninstalled it from my PC and reinstalled and now it works fine.

The 3 is much quicker navigating through the menus and the wi-fi is also noticeably faster. Plugging the headphones into the remote is a cool feature too.

I just set up my Roku 3 yesterday using a US account. What problem are you having?

I have my router set up with unblock.us's DNS servers. When I'm going to Netflix on my wired computer I get US Netflix but on my wireless Roku box upstairs I only get CDN Netflix.

I've even called Roku and had them create a new account for me with no credit card information to ensure that wasn't causing the problem.

I'm having no problems with my Roku 3. I'm using blockless instead of unblockus, but I doubt that's the issue.

You've covered off the most likely problem. The next thing I'd try is hooking the Roku up with the network cable your wired computer uses and see what happens. Maybe you have a funny network setup.

That's my plan when I get home from work today.

I think I'd like to have it wired anyways, so I just bought a 50' cat5e cable from amazon.

Hopefully that fixes it.

Well that didn't solve it.

I think the problem is that Roku now looks at the IP address of the computer to determine location, instead of using the DNS settings.

When I spoke to Roku support people they indicated that my IP was showing up as from Calgary.

I might have to return this and get another media box.

$3 dollar antenna available from Dollarama - http://forums.redflagdeals.com/rca-h...arama-1386817/

It works great for me so far. Picked up 6 channels and the quality on all of them are fantastic.

HD looks better than HD on shaw.

Because the OTA HD is uncompressed 1080i. Way better picture than from that crap box Shaw gives you.

What part of the city do you live in, Bomber?

Because a coat hanger will work in Westhills.....

North Central.

TVfool showed 5 channels in the Green zone and 1 in the yellow.

I didn't try the coat hanger thing....

I should pick one of these up in the event that I ever follow through with my threat to fully cut the cord.

It really is just live sports keeping me from doing it, but Premier League, NHL, and MLS are my big three, and subscriptions (and the necessary geoblock workarounds) to each aren't yet worth it and I can't get all of the games I want anyway.
