Sorry to double post.
After reading up on Spice Hut, looking through the menu, and reading about them on here, I ended up grabbing dinner for the wife and I after work and it was fantastic. Will definitely be my go to Indian restaurant. The wife got chicken tikka masala and I got the chicken karahi. I can't really imagine either dish being any better than they were.
5 stars from me.

Smuggler's Inn restaurant fire contained to roof; renovations to continue
https://calgaryherald.com/news/local...ns-to-continue
Quote:
Smuggler’s Inn has been a staple on the Calgary dining scene for more than 40 years. It closed at the start of the pandemic in March 2020. Renoir Management bought the building in February of last year and was weeks away from reopening, according to Down.
“Now it’s just starting fresh,” said Down. “Our guys were about two weeks from finishing. But that’s OK. It’s just stuff, right?”

It's been mentioned here before (possibly even by me) but a big shout out for Ogam on Macleod Trail. Went there after the Hitmen game yesterday and the food was fantastic and the service even better.

We tried Milk Tigers new spot on Friday. Great cocktails and decent food. But the service was terrible. Not sure we’d go back. Hopefully it was just an off night.

We went to Paper Lantern in Chinatown for cocktails but the food, frankly, blew us away. Amazing flavour in anything we tried. We also had "what the kitchen is having" which was a noodle beef stew. The broth in that was one of the best broths I've ever had.
Unbelievable.

Looks like Kama is opening on April 19th and I'm excited to give it a try. Head chef from Workshop so expecting some quality food.

Anyone try the new Tomahawk Steakhouse at Mcleod and Southland (former Jack Astor's location)?
Prices are quite high, hopefully the food matches.

We went to Paper Lantern last weekend for dinner as well. It was kind of neat because the restaurant/bar was hidden in the basement level in Chinatown.
My parents grew up in Vietnam so the dishes that we ordered were all my favorites but in reasonably sized portions, so I was able to eat a bit of everything.
Our favorite dishes were the Banh Xeo (vietnamese crepes) and Chicken wings with the Spicy Fish Sauce glaze. I can't wait to go back and try the "what's the kitchen having" special.

I was pretty surprised a steak place opened there with modern steak just down the road, but will check it out.
The google review of washroom sex was funny.

We went again this past Friday for lunch, the burger is great. You can get it cooked medium rare, which makes for juicy goodness. Bun is the right size and density to hold up, toppings aren't overwhelming. It's all about the beef. They also have a prime rib sandwich with jus to dip which was also solid, no chewiness to the beef at all. Cocktails were on point. All in all, a nice lunch for less than half what we splashed out for dinner. It was bustling but the service was just right.

And Caesar's is across the street from Modern. I know where I'd be going if I wanted a nice steak dinner in the south.

Calgary’s hottest new restaurant is Kama. Chef Kenny has outdone himself. This place has everything. Pics on my I/G.
