Will this team ever be consistent? There's always a definite weakness, and it changes every single year. This year it looks like it is the offense that is drying up. Goaltending has been phenomenal, defense has been okay, but where are our top players when we need them? I'm talking to you, Gaudreau. When your best forward isn't playing up to par, it can be beyond difficult to generate any scoring chances.

I’m not going to solely blame the refs for this loss because the team didn’t deserve to win with that on ice performance. But that was one of the worst non-calls I’ve seen all season. There needs to be some kind of medium where officials have to answer for their calls because that is a penalty 100 times out of 100.
Talbot was sharp and it sucks to waste that performance. Three days of practice didn’t seem to help at all because the execution wasn’t there for the most of the night. Lots of bobbled, inaccurate passes and the team trying to be way too cute in the offensive zone. Backlund? Man, c’mon that was a back breaker. Besides Talbot none of the ex-Oilers have done practically anything all season. Lucic and a Reider have a combined 32 games, 0 goals, 4 assists and a -9. Jankowski is invisible and Johnny/Tkachuk/Monahan/Lindholm get no secondary support. They need to be lights out or we have little chance. Lets hope it’s a case of the team gripping the sticks too tight when the backup is in and they have a better performance with Rittich back in net.
Not a fun night.

I think that my feeling of meh for this team is compounded by the fact that this isn’t supposed to be our team. We’re suppsed to have Kadri and Jason Zucker. Imagine a line with Kadri, Zucker and Chucky. Tkachuk is straddled with a couple of third liners every damn night.

Gaudreau not great again and to me he’s the issue on that first line. I thought Lindholm (even though it wasn’t his best night) and Monahan looked good but Gaudreau is just trying to do too much and forcing bad plays out there.
Bottom 6 wasn’t great, and think that’s why they took Mangiapane off the second line to try to Spark the Ryan line.
I really do think we need a shakeup in the forward group. Get one of Gawdin, Dube, or Phillips up here just for an energy boost.
Also if we are going to default to Giordano-Brodie at times throughout the game then I’d much rather have Kylington than Stone in the lineup.

Peters started presser by talking about the Bennett penalty.
And apparently Peters said that Backlund said he was “jammed” on the egregious miss. Lol. Maybe rings true if he had to play the game with a one sided field hockey stick.
Take some accountability for missing a sitter at least.

Swap Dube for Jankowski because there is 0 chance Jankowski gets picked up on waivers and keep Quine in the lineup over Reider. I’d love Treliving to go big game hunting, including the 1st round pick but we don’t really have any cap space to make a big acquisition. Get well soon Valimaki.

That non call on the Andersson trip is one of the worst non calls I’ve ever seen. Instead of a PP to tie, it’s 3-1 seconds later.
Flames didn’t play as poorly as many seem to be saying. Second period was a lot closer than the shot counter made it appear.
This team is capable of more, and it’s frustrating to watch. The bounces certainly didn’t go our way today.
On Dallas’ first goal, Talbots pad was being pushed by a stick prior to the puck going in - anyone catch if it was our players stick or Dallas’? If it was Dallas, we probably should have had it overturned.

So in the Kadri deal, he didn’t want to come here. Fine. He’s dead to me now.
Have we figured out yet who we can scapegoat on the Zucker trade?

It's interesting, i think they would be better off not trading picks, but dumping assets.
Gio is only getting older, our top end players aren't guys that have what it takes against the league's big boys. Our d is going to be extremely young.
If the flames chase mediocrity, "just get in", the next 3-5 years will be the same as the last 30, for the most part = an avg to belong avg franchise.
