Default Would Matthew Phillips be a good fit with Gaudreau and Monahan?

Glad to see Phillips leading the Heat in pts this year and was surprised by that huge hit he laid in the last game (If you haven't seen it yet check it out in the Heat thread).

He could be. I like his game for sure. Makes for a small line though.

I’m sure he’ll get a call up at some point. They can see if he translates or not.

Maybe. But would he be a better fit than Lindholm or Tkachuk? Probably not.

I'd love to se him come up and play 4RW on a line with Lucic & Jankowski

Just to see how he does at the NHL level, and with a bodyguard.

Bad fit for that line IMO. The Flames top line is already known for being soft. Having Gaudreau and Phillips on the same line is asking for trouble. I think Phillips would do much better paired with players like Tkachuk, Bennett, Lucic, etc...

I think he needs to make the NHL first, before being put on the first line.

Yeah I think it's too soon for that type of promotion.

Gawdin (13 points in 13 games), Dube (12 points in 12 games), and Phillips (15 points in 13 games) probably are deserving of a look here at some point though with their play so far this season.

Phillips probably would be best suited to a spot with Tkachuk/Backlund, or Lucic/Jankowski though at this point.

Phillips, Gawdwin and Dube all deserve a call up sooner rather than later.

Would be awesome if he or Dube could fill that first line RW spot

Prior to last game Phillips had 10 points in 12 games, which is good/great but the 5 point game skew his stats a bit.

I do think that he has NHL potential, but not top line potential. I think he could become somewhat of a bottom line PP specialist sort of like Czarnik, but doubt he will ever be able to go toe to toe with other top lines.

His IQ is off the charts but the rest of the package may not be enough to become a true top 6er. Also, for a player of his size, I would really like to see him work on his speed. For a guy his size he needs to fly to be effective in the NHL.

That line needs a fast, big forward who gives them the option of dumping in the puck and having him go into the corners, fight for the puck, win battles and feed it back to them. In my opinion.

Mattew doesn't think so.

This team needs a shot in the arm, so you know they are keeping a close eye on the kids in Stockton who in turn should be well aware that they have a golden opportunity to climb the ladder.

Nothing like a Phillips screwdriver to help with a quick retool.

Kylington has three goals in three games for the Heat and he skates like the wind. Maybe our second top six RW has been under our noses the entire time. I kid.

Tkachuk had multiple chances in the game against Washington to lay out guys open ice like that and chose not to, allowing the player to skate by. Bring this kid up!

Phillips has always played this way and the kicker is he is 2 inches smaller than Johnny. This is why I don't get why he can't play with a bit more edge. Hit the Gym Johnny!!

Philips is the good screwdriver. It's all the other ones that are useless
