My username would make more sense if my join date was 10 years earlier. There are two reasons I picked it:

1) the whole Button/Gilbert/Savard trade drama was possibly the lowest I have felt as a Flames fan. To this day it still riles me up and is a defining factor of my fandom.

2) CP seemed very ruthless towards new posters and I wanted to fit in. Seeing a lot of negative posts, many of which wanted the coach fired, I decided showing my dislike for a universally disliked GM and coach would help endear me to the board and give me some cred as a fan from the young guns era.

In hindsight I’m happy with the choice and relish my role thanking any post critical of Craig Button.

Was doing a lot of work in NYC years ago and spent a lot of time there. Also was seeing a girl who lived in Midtown.

Also my dream final has always been Flames v Rangers.

D for never dirty.

MC for mostly clean.

I was a fan in 1980, and therefore I am very unique. (<-- this part after the comma is sarcasm)

If I had a do-over, I would go with foppatastic since Peter the Great is my all-time favourite player... plus I've outgrown the ridiculous feeling that I need to make sure everyone knows how long I've been a fan for.

I was a huge fan of LOST.

Which is entirely false.

Jimmy is because my first name is James. Stang is part of my last name, and my
high school football nickname.

My username used to just be my full name, until I got interrogated by the Flames about my post history in a job interview... so I asked the mods to change it to my initials.

Funny enough, as a result of that change I now have a large number of friends that exclusively call me AC in real life. It's weird in retrospect because it's not a nickname I ever went by previously. It just stuck with CPers I met in real life playing ball hockey and spread from there.

This was a fun thread to read, thanks for posting this.

Mine is just an abbreviation of my first name that many simply fall into using. Most think my ‘actual’ first name is in itself a nickname, but once they learn otherwise they tend to just shorten it to jmac. Even my parents call me this.

The ‘98’ is just my favorite number. As a kid I was a big Gretzky fan and wanted to be the best player I could be. Realizing I’d never be as good as him, I went for 1 number below his and it just stuck for me. In retrospect, if the number was used to grade my hockey skills, I’d be known as ‘jmac -98’ or something.

When I signed up it was just going to be to sell parts of my season tickets one year when I knew I couldn’t make very many games. The name needed to be three characters so I randomly mashed a letter 3 times and got ggg.

Well my favourite car growing up was the Mustang, I’ve owned several over the years.

Dammit Jiri you stole my thunder.

I’d probably change my username if I could although I have zero idea what I’d change it to.

Goes back to the 97-98 Flames, one of the worst periods for this organization. The below was the sad lineup we had at the time, and the marketing hacks kept billing them as the "Young Guns"

It's not that I personally blame Hulse for this dumpster fire period, but his constant hyping by the organization made him the poster child of what was wrong. Couple that with the user name "IH8Crawford" that someone was using and well... here I am.
