Yeah I'm a Vatanen fan, if we sign any vet I hope its him.

Personally am not a fan of pushing the kids not named Valimaki out of the top 6 completely though.

Is he just not a fan of kylington? He's buried him so deep he hasn't been able to get a look in months.

Stop wasting time and effort and just let Kylington ####ing play

He’s 100% better than anyone they pick up.

I hope the Flames don't waste assets acquiring a bottom pairing defenseman that only plays for the team for one season.

Things are kind of fine as is, and there's still lots of free agents. Plus, they don't really have cap space for anything other than signing Kylington. Not to mention, an expansion draft is looming.

Eh, wonder if this is Tre's way of putting pressure on Kylington to sign his offer. Pretty sure I haven't seen news on that front yet.

Actually yes. We need this MUCH more than a RH experienced D.

Leave it to Brad to fixate on filling that #5 dman role that won't help move us past first round fodder and eat up unnecessary cap flexibility that we could use towards addressing the core need (the top ####ing six).

Use the cheap youth in the system to fill out bottom pairing roles, that's what they're there for, and save that cap for in a forward pickup at the deadline, which we could actually really use this time around.

Wat? Signing Tanev doesn't mean you don't add another dman for the next 4 years

Theres a perfectly good Sami Vatanen sitting on the fa pile.

If you're talking about moving Lindholm to center you have moves to make with any other center to make the necessary cap space..

Treliving likes to give up picks for depth defensemen in March. Just coming earlier this year.

This being said, if Engelland wanted another year I would pick him up. Play 1/4 of the games and be a good presence otherwise.

Vatanen, Hamonic, Engellend all UFA options. Looking for a third pair RHD can’t cost much. Maybe Derek Ryan trade?

I don’t get it. How can we even do it given Nesterov and Kylington are waiver eligible and the other 5 guys are locks?

Unless a trade is happening or we don’t care about exposing one of those guys on waivers.

This RD quote from Treliving, is last years “I don’t know why he hasn’t signed”.

What’s the saying? If that were true, I would drive him to the airport myself?

I see the Flames can never resist the call of "highly paid defenseman on the bottom pairing"

Has Treliving not yet wasted enough assets and cap space on depth defensemen that push better younger players on better contracts off the roster? What does he imagine that well has yielded the team up to now?

This news item has sabres fans so excited that someone will actually give up decent assets for ristolainen.

His advanced stats are terrible and he's a ufa in 18 months.

That said he puts up points on the pp and I think he'd be fine in sheltered minutes if they arent asking for anything of value and take Derek Ryan and Rittich back to make the money work. Just basically swapping around close to replacement level players with similar overall cap hits. Would be easy to sign a veteran backup for minimum wage i think on a 1 year show me deal
