Can anyone recommend some walking / hiking trails in or near Calgary? I'm looking for wooded trails. I am familiar with Griffiths, Weaselhead, Fish Creek and the Douglas Fir Trail. These are the only wooded paths I've found. Any suggestions?
I grew up beside Nose Hill, porcupine valley (Beddington) is cool. There's a lesser used trail right at the valley bottom that goes all the way up. I used to hike up there and then along the ridge line on the way back. Parking off John Laurie and hiking that section of woods around Brisebois Drive is kind of cool too.
In the NW, 12 Mile Coulee in Tuscany is nice and there is the Lasso Trail (link below) that I have seen but never done. Glenmore Ranch Prov Park has lots of trails too but not very forested.

Nose hill has some great wooded areas. We have walked there a bunch in the last year.
Far west side of bowness park has my favourite wooded path. You really get the foresty atmosphere up there. Mossy ground (when not snow covered) and tall trees. Access to the river pretty much anywhere along there.
Of course they're working on the additions to the sarcee bridge right where the entrance to that area is right now so I don't know if its blocked off currently. I am also not sure if they've disturbed that forest with the construction, highly possible....
Amazing leisurely walk though if you can get in there.
