Currently on Book Four of the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson, Rhythm of War.

Before diving into this I read Blue Sky Kingdom by Bruce Kirkby and Land of Lost Borders by Kate Harris.

Just finished Rhythm of War, before that I worked my way through a bunch of the other Cosmir novels (all the Mistborn series), and also the Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks.

After that haven't been able to get into any new books, but apparently I'm on a bit of a fantasy kick lately so if anyone has any recommendations for fantasy.

Otherwise going back to The Prefect by Alastair Reynolds as there's a sequel that I started but I guess I don't remember the original enough.

Have you read the Powder Mage series at all? I read the first three, found them an interesting take on fantasy, being set in a Napoleonic tech age.

Wikipedia describes that book as: A Fire Upon the Deep is a 1992 science fiction novel by American writer Vernor Vinge. It is a space opera involving superhuman intelligences, aliens, variable physics, space battles, love, betrayal, genocide, and a communication medium resembling Usenet.

Honestly that sounds incredible! Let me know how it goes!

Also recently read a good one by David Grann called “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI”. Historical account of the Osage Tribe in Oklahoma in the early 1900s, they secured the rights to all the minerals and resources in the land they were forcibly moved to, which happened to have a lot of oil, they became the richest people per capita on earth, and the systematic murder of dozens of them by local townspeople looking to take their money

Not sure if you're aware but Scorcese is in pre-production of a movie based on the book right now starring DiCaprio, De Niro and Jesse Plemons.

The books slowly spin out of control as they move on, but Dune is just so good.

I am re-reading Peace War and Marooned in Realtime right now. Hadn't heard Vinge's name uttered in a looong time, prior to that.

I just powered through three books.

Burke's Law by Brian Burke. This one was quite interesting

Calling the Shots by Kelly Hrudey. Not too bad. Nothing earth shattering or controversial. Mostly some good stories about Hrudey's career. I appreciated how he was honest and open about dealing with anxiety.

Killer by Doug Gilmour. It was okay. I was disappointed that he glossed over his St.Louis incident. Likely due to legal reasons, but he tried hard to ignore it completely. I didn't know he was a practical joker. I got a couple of decent ideas from him.

Right now I'm reading 99 Stories of the Game by Gretzky. I'm only two chapters in but so far so good. I didn't read what it was about and I thought it would be stories of his career, but he's regaling us with stories throughout all of hockey's history which I'm finding to be interesting.

Up next, I have have Robin Williams biography: Robin.

Just finished Malcom X’s autobiography - thought it was an excellent read and increased my admiration of the man immensely. Now reading Ken Follett’s Triple - spy novel based on a Mossad plot to steal uranium in the 70s. I’m a huge fan of his writing and am loving it so far, he does a great job of integrating real life historical events with a compelling story

Great book on the history and significance of middle eurasia.
I read this book and the follow-up a few years ago. I thought that they were both excellent. I might re-read this one actually, because it's just so good and interesting.

Just finished Caste:The Origins of our discontent by Isabel Wilkerson. It is definitely worth a read.

It draws a comparison of the world of racism in the United States to the caste structures of Nazi Germany and India.

recently tried to read the new John Grisham book, but didn't think it was very good, so stopped about a 3rd of the way through.

Right now reading the Anderson Cooper book "Vanderbilt: The Rise and Fall of an American Dynasty"

Pretty good. I'm enjoying it.

Rick Mercer’s Talking to Canadians…if you like Rick (who doesn’t?), this is a highly entertaining read. Just finished last night and loved it. All the stories Rick is famous for.

Finishing up "Dead Mountain: The Untold True Story of the Dyatlov Pass Incident" by Donnie Eichar.

It's been a good read so far, curious to see how he wraps it up and what he may posture as a theory for what happened there.
