HIFK loses again, 4-0 to Farjestads BK in the European Trophy tournament. Ortio made 35 saves but was given basically no help.

Ortio seems to face a lot of shots every game.

I get the impression that HIFK has absolutely terrible defensive players. Their blueline is a mix of really young guys and pretty old guys.

nothing better for development than alot of work IMO. It would be better if he was winning as well but in the end i think this extra work will be good for him

Tyler Wotherspoon had 2 assists, was +2, in a 5-2 win over Kootenay this afternoon.

Coda Gordon had an assist, was +1, in a 2-1 win over Moose Jaw.

Laurent Brossoit stopped 30 of 33 shots in 3-1 loss to Prince George.

Wotherspoon had a goal tonight in a 6-3 win over Seattle.

Brossoit had the night off.

He was a healthy scratch for a couple of European Trophy games.

Early-mid October.

This is based on the assumption that Boston College starts around the same time as everyone else and their first regular season game is October 13th @ Northeastern.

This is correct.

They have one pre-season game on October 6 against New Brunswick.

At first I thought you meant a team from New Brunswick, NJ...but apparently Boston College will be playing the UNB Varsity Reds! Too cool!

There's usually a lot of NCAA-CIS games in early October. Teams in the Canada West conference often go down and do a swing through Minnesota to play the Golden Gophers and other teams.

The UNB Varsity Reds, 2011 Atlantic Champions, have added an additional exhibition game to their 2012-13 non-conference schedule and will play the Portland Pirates of the AHL on Thursday, October 4th at 1:00 pm in Portland.

The game will be the first of a three game US road trip for UNB as after playing Portland, they will travel to Boston where they will play 2012 NCAA champions Boston College Terriers on Saturday 6th at 7:00 pm before finishing up the trip in Orono, Maine on Sunday at 4:00 pm against top ranked University of Maine Black Bears.

But I'm stoked that the UNB kids are getting a bunch of chances to test themselves.
