It's pretty sad that with this many names still left on the list, only one led the team to any playoff round victories.
Allister Wences MacNeil.

Not today. But at some point Greg Gilbert is going to get voted in solely for keeping Berube out at the end of that Ducks game.

I almost voted Gulutzan just to see the reaction.

That was the highlight of his time here, for me.
He should make top 10 for sure

I'm most curious now to see where Ward places in this. Very short tenure so far, but getting some pretty good performance coming out a bit of a #### show. His place in the history of the Flames is his and the team's to claim in the month of August. A truly unique situation.

A little surprised to see King running away with this round. King had a lot of desirable qualities. Posied, professional, great with the media and of course the goodwill of having coached the national team for so long.
But if a coaches job is to get a team to be more than the sum of its parts, his record is not that impressive. Zero for three in the playoffs and had players like Macinnis, Suter, Vernon, Nieuwendyk, Roberts, Fleury, Roberts, Recihel, Titov.
As Bingo pointed out he maybe was unlucky in some of the game 7's but don't know how you factor that in. Hell if Smyl scores on Vernon in 1989, Crisp is going down as one of the very worst coaches in franchise history.
Think I'll go Macneil. I still think Brian Sutter was a good coach here but hard to substantiate that with any data.
To give King credit, he put together three strong regular seasons in a row.

Sadly, Gulutzan was better than Gilbert.

Pierre Page was famous for trashing his office door.

I’m going to find it tough voting for Bill Peters any time soon. I see he has already garnered a few votes. Yes, the team did really well under him in the regular season coming out as the top team in the west, but the Akim Aliu situation is more than enough to weigh against that.

You make your luck. King was a decent development coach but couldn’t connect with professionals. He played a bland, conservative style of hockey which he was used to playing with mediocre talent on the national team. He had some studs on this team and we should have performed better (and probably would have with a coach that was used to working with professionals). He played bloody Dan Keczmer as a F - yes, that dan keczmer!
Went with Brian Sutter on this one. Had he been coach during the King era we would have gone further. Got the best he could out of the kids. And that’s even factoring in that awful tan sports jacket he used to wear. That was hard on the eyes.

Plus the team was extremely out-coached in the playoffs by Colorado.
Then early on this year Peters was making a lot of questionable decisions.
The Flames made it to the conference finals with MacNeill. Tough to justify voting Peters of MacNeil imo.
Under King, the Flames led the division twice, but again, no playoff success.

Why the love for King? Getting unlucky in one playoff series is understandable. Getting unlucky in 3 is a pattern.
Had to go with McNeil. Best playoff record remaining and that time he replaced Gilbert was pretty amazing.
