I’m pretty sure they weren’t going to build until the end of the highway bridge project. I seem to recall fall of 2024?

I just saw the pictures of the new Montgomery pump track and it looks awesome. It looks like the largest and probably best setup in the city. I also like that they still have the natural flow track off to the side. I wanted to check it out today but just don't have time and unfortunately it is going to be closed in May to finish the landscaping work.

First early season sunburn: Check.
Despite the wind it was quite a brilliant April day for riding... road and/or mtb and/or gravel. Can't do it all!

Isn't that what the gravel bike is for? N=1 here, it's all I want.

The closure of Bow Valley Parkway to vehicles begins today until the end of June- and again for all of September. It is the same 17km stretch as the last couple yeas; east of Johnson Canyon. Was awesome when it went all the way to Castle Junction back in that first year of covid (23km), which I'm guessing was doable because all of those lodges and camp sites were closed anyway. Haven't heard anything on the Minnewanka loop being closed to traffic?

I rode Legacy from Canmore to Cascade ponds Saturday. I think Minnewanka road opens May 1, so today. I haven't heard any traffic closures planned.

I probably rode my gravel 70-80% of total hours on the bike so yeah a comfy gravel setup hits the spot even if I do use it for commuting year round, light/easy off road trails, and when travelling and I’m forced to pick n=1. But whilst I also like my n=1 I gotta say I enjoy that road bike some days (and hate it others) and nothing like the rush of a wicked Mtb outing in the woods.

Frickin pathletes in full effect this morning on the cannonball run from Home Road into downtown. Close passes, no bells or notifications, forming sketchy looking little Pelotons oozing with machismo.

On the flip side are those somehow riding in their granny chainrings and 36t on the back and very very very slowly moving along. Kinda like a kids ride along on Deerfoot.

Ride yesterday evening with my wife along the East Greenway.

I think that was my first real ride if the season, 17 km in total.

My butt hurts.

We bought a lectric xpedition cargo e-bike for daycare drop offs and commutes downtown afterward. I set it up last night and my god is it ever fun just ripping up hills. I need to true the disc brakes a bit still but I'm so far very impressed with this relatively "cheap" e-bike.

Welcome to the e cargo bike club. Enjoy the next 6 months of looking for any excuse to use it to move something/go get something odd on your bike.

Today I loaded up my sons new bike on the back of my bike and rode it to his school so he could ride home on his bike beside me.

I've had the Urban Arrow for nearly 6 months and can confirm this is exactly the case.

Does anybody know who Northendzone's family is doing? I went biking at fish creek and thought about him. I've never met him, but he seemed to like fish creek.

I think that's where he passed away, no? I know Bingo was adamant that he passed away while on vacation, but local accounts seem to suggest he was back from vacation, along with his posts here.

He seemed like a really nice, liked person. I hope they're doing okay with all the support from people that knew him.

Rode the BV parkway to Johnson' Canyon today, super nice to have no cars around. Even saw a black bear up close waddling around the road .

I rode Sheep River road yesterday. Lots of sheep, not a lot of people. Mostly great weather

For anyone who needs summer touring inspiration, this kid wanted to do a long ride before turning 18. He turns 18 in a couple of weeks and has ridden almost 5,000kms over the last almost 2 months, from Sichuan province in China over the mountains in Tibet and almost to Pakistan.

His tent and all his gear are in his backpack. The road climbs to over 4,500m in elevation and crosses the Gobi desert.

He's been doing it on a rideshare bike.
