It was speculation on my part about something that could happen.

I echo the sentiment that this is a hollow, manufactured concern that seems extremely unlikely.
But I'll bite.
Why don't you go ahead and try and dream up one example of something that might happen along these lines and see how it sounds when you type it out loud.
- Gio tells the room they need to go out and give 100% and Iggy corrects him and tells them 110%?
- Gio turns the radio on and Iggy changes the station?
- Gio tells the team they need everyone back-checking and Iggy says he's gonna hang out at the blue-line?
It really seems like an empty concern. These guys are true professionals and classy, veteran individuals.

If I was the leader of an organization and they brought in the former leader for whatever reason I would be pissed.
Singular focus for the Flames with NO distractions. I don't really think he wants to be here anyway.

That's a failure on your end. Just because you'd be upset and allow it to impact your professionalism and emotional state, does not mean that would happen to Mark Giordano.
The speculative concern over what would or what wouldn't be a distraction is a silly part of fandom.
Curtis Lazar is a former 1st round pick, and likely still believes he can be a first line player - but jeez, ya know - Gulutzan likely sees him as a 3rd/4th line guy. That's a pretty big difference of opinion, I bet it's tearing the dressing room apart from within.

How many players left on the team played with Iggy when he was Captain of the Flames? Unless Gio, Backs or Stajan didn't like Iggy as a person, him being a "former leader" wouldn't and shouldn't bother them.
For most players, Iggy would just be another player.
It would be the same as if they signed Doan.

I don't think it would be a distraction at all, I think the goal of winning the Stanley Cup would be more important than who gets to wear a letter. I would guarantee that Iggy would play goalie if it meant winning the Cup. If petty things like this mattered to these guys, the wouldn't have been a captain to begin with.

If it wasn't for thisnplace there would be no speculation about Iggy to Calgary at all. They never talk about him as an option in the FAN anymore and the internet has been silent about where he signs with the exception of the odd useless Eklund post.
The talk here has me excited and expecting Iginla to return. Hope it happens Wednesday as that would be a really cool birthday present.

I am still on the fence with him. With that said, if he does make his way here I don't think he will be an issue in the room. He was never a rah rah guy in the room. His brand of leadership was to lead by example on the ice.

Pretty silly conversation imo
If they do bring iggy back, people don't think the management would ask Gio, stajan, backes what they thought privately before pulling the trigger?
If iggy is resigned, you can bet that it would be with the blessing of Gio and the leadership group

This...
And if he was contemplating a return, he'd be calling Giordano, Stajan and any other contacts he has on the team, before things moved to far along with management.

Why are we asking David Backes if he minds if we sign Iginla?

Because it's always good to get a neutral 3rd party view from the outside

No one would be calling Gio to see if signing Iggy was ok with them, management is going to do what they think is right and what will win the Cup. We all know that if they were going to talk to anyone about it, they'd talk to Jankowski.
This thread is getting a little too "on topic" needs more Jankowski!
