Caught a Lugia this morning, first throw!

Did two Articuno raids, had 11 and 9 balls and didn't catch either one.

Over the past two days my family and I did 8 raids. 1 Lugia and 7 Articuno. Between the 4 of us we have 2 Lugia and 4 Articuno's.

I participated in a Lugia raid over lunch and just as we were about to defeat it my last mon died. I hit rejoin battle and was kicked out of the game. Is this a common glitch? It looked like I received revives, but never had opportunity to catch the Lugia. Damnit.

I don't think this is common as usually you can rejoin no problem. I think you just had really bad timing and your group beat the raid before you rejoined in again.

Also don't forget to make sure you have room in your poke storage else you won't get a chance to catch the raid boss.

Same thing happened to me downtown at lunch today. I was able to get back in before the timer ran down though, but couldn't catch Articuno even though I had a golden raspberry and had an Excellent throw....

I suppose a somewhat selfish, but likely successful strategy might be to put my big Blissey in my last spot. That way I would likely remain in the fight to the end. Assuming we have numbers to take the battle to the boss...

I caught a Lugia downtown, and then failed to catch Articuno.

What a good way to get lots or rare candies and XP though.

Finally had enough rare candy to evolve a decent dragonite.

Lugia is a pretty easy catch. I think that's supposed to make up for giving it to some of us free (allegedly - nothing has come through yet).
Articuno, on the other hand, is an a-hole.

I haven't done a raid yet, so I'm curious to know how joining works?
When you start, does it just get going, and other people can join in as they're passing by? Or does the game force you to wait until you have a certain number of players?
Can you join in half way through, or if you start after a group starts, are you starting with the raid boss at full health, alone?

It starts with a lobby view, where it shows how many are joining in the raid, with a countdown timer that starts at about 100 seconds.
It gives a suggested number of players needed to defeat the boss, which is usually way more than actually required. If not enough people are in the lobby, you can leave (before the timer runs out) and then go back in to see if more are around.
Once the battle against the boss starts, you can fight or run away. You can try any single raid over and over, as long as the boss is still there (on the same raid pass) but unfortunately once you use a raid pass it is gone, even if there aren't enough people to help win the raid.

Can more people join mid raid, or once that lobby timer ticks down, those are the people taking part? If all your Pokemon faint and you try again, are you put back with the same group (if they're still battling) or do you start over and hope more people join?

Hatched a 100% Larvitar right at the end of the event with 45 candy!

Finally caught an Articuno after four attempts at it on my last ball.

Went through my catches from the day and I had a 100% Nidorino in the mix as well!

Once the timer ticks down and the battle starts, no one else can join.
If they all faint, you join back in the same battle.

If you fail (as a group) to defeat him, you can try again on the same raid pass by starting the process all over again.

I think I'm over 150,000 Xp gained today, and I don't have any lucky eggs.

Beat Lugia and Articuno each twice. 1/2 on Lugia catches, 0/2 on Articuno.

I probably earned and spent about 50,000 stardust today as well, and with that, I have my first Pokemon over 3000 CP.

Downtown at lunchtime was crazy, at the Lugia raid, there were probably 50-60 people there. Walk up, just enter the battle, and almost immediately you have 20 people in the attacking group.

This evening, at the genesis centre, we walked in just as one group was catching Articuno, and just had to wait 5 minutes, and we had 19 in an attacking group.

This has been the best event so far! The number of people out doing raids has been astounding!

I raked in 500k XP today.

Yeah I'm 2/5. They aren't easy to get, which I think is a good thing!
