If you like Rome's interviews but don't care for the rest of his show, his Daily Jungle podcast basically includes his opening monologue, all the interviews and then only tidbits of the rest of his show. It runs 30-60 minutes per episode, depending on the day.

If he makes $30-million a year how is his net worth only $75-million?

("Only" $75-million. I don't even have beer money...)

Surprised the Fan continues to carry him.

Maybe Kirsch should get off his wallet and hire another morning guy for a couple hours. Even Edmonton has that lowdown guy between 10 and noon.
I'd listen to that for sure. This time of year the only thing I want to talk about is Flames and Premiere League, so Rome has nothing for me. But I represent a very small minority.

I'd like practice coverage and maybe an interview with coaches or insiders. You could fill that time. Come summer, do same for Stamps.

If the Fan can find people who bring fresh takes on Flames news I'd listen in for sure - I'd even dig a call in show.

During Rome I just listen to whatever CBC has. IMO listening to grandmothers describe their mysterious trees to arborists is more interesting than high octane SoCal sports radio.

It looks like he made $15M the year before, so it's a fluctuating amount. And there are taxes, expenses, etc.

Good for Rome to interview someone(Peters) for which most of his viewers worldwide wouldnt know nor would they care about. I like having him during the day and also like the evening programming on the fan.

Then again I am a big NFL, NBA, MLB, NCAA and other major sports fan, so its nice to listen to it on terrestrial radio, so I dont have to stream other stations with my phone when driving. I love the Flames coverage on the fan, but that is bout it. I dont care to hear anything on the Stamps/CFL, Hitmen, Roughnecks or any other local sports teams to be honest. At that point, I always switch the dial or stream elsewhere, when its anything local other than the Flames.

Hence, Rome, even though he can be a little annoying at times, but I like it still. I am sure I am in the minority though, so my opinion probably means very little to Sportsnet.

I dont understand how folks can listen to Rome. He talks a million miles an hour, has his voice heard far more than any guest, makes everything seem super stressful and intense. No thanks.

I totally get your point .... but then again, this interview with Bill Peters actually seems really good - Bill was allowed to talk.

Really? There was like three things said and none of it mattered to anyone, hockey fan or non hockey fan.

Well, he did shill for the Stampede so it likely mattered to them a little.

Gist of thread...

<group that hates Rome> usual rumbles

<group that likes Rome> "he is the best interviewer"

<general group> "how was the interview?"

<listeners> "terrible"

Huge Rome fan here, see username... The smack off is one of the greatest events on radio. Every morning I eagerly wait to get rid of Boomer and Rhett. They are legitimately the worst sports talk radio segment ever. On a good day you are lucky to hear LA Confora or Virk, but about 80% of their show is bitching about breakfast or warreners salary/work ethic. Pinder was the only good thing the morning show had, but frankly I prefer him in the afternoon.

Yeah but I don't think he gets paid. Pretty much only interviews his friends from the blogging community. They might as well do call in Tradio during that time they might find someone to sponsor that.

That station is some TSN talent as guests and a bunch of amateurs filling the rest of the air time.
