Icon32 Wild trade Scandella, Pominville, 4th to Sabres for Ennis, Foligno, 3rd

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Marco Scandella heading to BUF from MIN.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
No trade call done yet but assuming it proceeds without hiccups, it's Pominville and Scandella to BUF, Ennis and Foligno to MIN.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
I believe MIN sends 4th to BUF and BUF sends 3rd to MIN.

Michael Russo @Russostrib
No money retained in #mnwild and #sabres trade

Michael Russo @Russostrib
On #mnwild #sabres trade involving Marco Scandella, I do think Jason Pominville could be in the mix

Michael Russo @Russostrib
#mnwild has traded Marco Scandella and Jason Pominville to #sabres for Tyler Ennis, Marcus Foligno and a draft pick

I get that it's a cap dump saving $3ish M in cap space but IMO the Sabres get the best two players in that trade.

Brutal trade for Minnesota IMO

Buffalo got the two best players in the deal, including a top 4/5 d-man, in exchange for Ennis who is terrible now and Foligno who is an okay 3rd liner.

What did Minnesota give up to Vegas so they wouldn't take one of their defensemen?

They traded 2014 1st rounder Alex Tuch for a conditional 3rd.

Vegas signed Haula away from them.

Always liked Marcus Foligno.

Big guy that can skate well and actually play a bit.

Solid 3rd liner IMO.

Solid trade for Buffalo; surprised the wild werent able to get more, but still...they have a top five d-cores in the league: Suter; Spurgeon; Brodin; Dumba

I feel like Minnesota is a weaker team now than they were before the expansion draft. Good news for the Flames.

Additional wrinkle in this trade is Pominville is owed a $2.5 million signing bonus tomorrow

I like this trade! Ennis is damaged goods at this point, he was awful last year even when he played. And Scandella is another solid addition to our defence with Beaulieu. We're starting to get better in the right ways.

I also always had a soft spot for Pominville.

It's funny - the Wild didn't want to lose a d-man in the expansion draft (and protected Pominville) so they traded Haula & Tuch.

Now they trade a d-man (they traded assets for to protect) and Pominville out for really nothing in return IMO.

Haula, Tuch, Pominville, Scandella, 4th for Foglino, Ennis, 2 3rds

That is horrible asset management IMO.
