A of these gang shootings seem to take place in public places. I wonder why that is? Opportunity for surprise and catching someone off guard?
Another common place is driveways, which makes sense. Although I'd assume it's harder to shoot someone if they make it into their car.
This seems to be more of a Canadian thing too.

The resulting panic also can make it easier to slip away into the crowd

If I learned anything from the Sopranos, it's that the seconds between getting into the driver's seat and putting the car into gear is the very best time (immobile, mindlessly engaged in another task)

Additionally, it's "few words" not "little words". That's because "little" doesn't precede a plural noun - the word "few" should be used here.

That is what happens when you move to a 3rd world country.

There are tons of ###### bags in this country that are violent and carry and use weapons on a daily basis. They have opted out of society's rules a long time ago. Then there is everyone else, which includes a hell of a lot of selfish people in the mix.

this couple from strathmore - not heroes wear capes. When everyone was running away, they embraced the danger and went to do something about it......i hope the mall gives them a lifetime discount card and a preferred parking spot

I'm not sure I would call them heroes?
They sound like regular people and they looked for security to find out what to do. It seems like she is criticizing the first security guard for not knowing what the issue was, and that they left (without even knowing where they left to).

Yeah agreed, I expected the story to be about them going full Hill Street Blues on the shooter.
Strolling up to a couple of security guards to get a better assessment on the situation (while smart) is hardly hero work.

What in the wide wide world of sports are you on about?
They were confused about what was happening, and looked for a security guard. You act like that put on their Rambo gear and took the gunmen down themselves.
Not heroes wear capes, some raise security training issues with Global News.

I don't know what this couple expected security to do anyway, it's not like they have guns and are trained to use them. The best security can do is get on the speaker and tell people what is going on, but that isn't going to stop the majority of people from doing their own thing anyway.

A better plan for the mall on how to handle such a situation is good.
But wanting "more professionalized private security officers"?
No, F off. Mall security exists to be a visible deterrent to would be shoplifters. Leave the whole "professionalized security guard" with a hero complex at home. They won't help anybody.

Hmm, not sure if this is supposed to be in green text. Sounds more like a couple just complaining about security procedures at the mall. Not sure what hero work they did whatsoever.

Just because they are more professionalized doesn't mean they will be jackoffs with hero complexes. Technically it's already private as the security is employed by the mall. It is really more of a point that if they invest the capital in actual training around a multitude of circumstances it will enhance the overall safety. Clearly the security at Crossiron has never had training on or protocols put in place on how to direct people during an active shooter. In the current climate security can no longer just be a visible deterrent, they will be the first people in line to help people before police can show up. The training would really just have to be about how to properly get people to safety, much like lockdown procedures at schools with teachers.

Or they have and it's human nature to be scared and panic.
I disagree that we need to have armed security officers.

Of course they're not heroes, they probably make like $16 an hour. They should be old hillbillies wandering around because that's what Crossiron is paying for.
