It'll be interesting to see how things change when we start seeing more intradivisional games, because right now, the fourth place Ducks are on a 78 point pace. There's a lot of bad hockey teams in our division. Flames need to take advantage.

The red snake has gone 1-1-0 since the last report. It's nice that they are now doing a pattern of game day and one rest day for days straight games, as opposed to having only one game in six days. This will give the red snake more opportunities to move upwards.

The red snake is 0.415 points below the black line, 1 point below the purple snake, and 3 points below the orange snake. A win in tomorrow's night game would put the red snake back above the black line. A 36-25-1 record (0.589 points percentage) in the remaining 62 games would give the red snake 96 points.

The blue snake is 4.415 points below the black line and 3 points above the orange snake. It would take six straight wins to get above the black line at the earliest point. A 38-23-1 record (0.621 points percentage) in the remaining 62 games would give the orange snake 96 points.

The red snake is 4 points above the blue snake.

Lovin' the Oilers extra-crispy snake. Looks like it's started on its annual decline.

That black line is so unforgiving.

First in division - below the black line. Our division sucks. Nevertheless, just focus on the snake and all will be good.

I think we are above the black line as of right now.

Oops. You are correct. The red snake is now 0.415 points above the black line, tied with the purple snake, and 1 point below the orange snake.

Thanks for the update!

Crazy to think that we are tied with last year's production as of game 21. Perhaps I'm biased with hindsight, but this year feels so much better.

I think we are A) not relying on exceptional goaltending from Smith (contrary in fact), B) are losing games we could have won, and C) have generally played with more consistency game-to-game.

The canucks' snake has started to head for cover. After going five straight games without a point, the green snake now sits 5.927 points below the black line and 4 points below the blue snake. The green snake is somehow 4 points below a snake that finished 23 points below the black line. The earliest the green snake could be back above the black line is with 8 straight victories. A 37-22-0 record (0.627 points percentage) in the remaining 59 games would give the green snake 96 points.

The irony is that this time last year I would argue the only reason they were where they were was because of Smith
I would make the same argument this year. But to mean something completely opposite.

And I totally prefer the present scenario. As hard as it I said to get a great goalie, it's harder to fix the rest of the team.

Neither Edmonton or Vancouver have a snake. They have worms, maybe.

CGY, EDM, YVR are the Western Canadian Snakes because those three teams are in Western Canada.

CGY and EDM are the Alberta Snakes because those two teams are in Alberta.

CGY and YVR are the Lower Canadian Snakes because those two teams are in the Lower section of Canada. Anything else became a little wordy. I might just call them the Christmas snakes from now on.

punch me in the taint if you will, but I wonder if you could study how far the crispy snake gets below the black line and make a cutoff to say "only 1 in 20 teams" or whatever make the playoffs when they get this far below the line

I bet it would be something like 6 or 8 points below the line at which point a team's season is pretty much over

That would be interesting. I vote no taint punch.

I will also vote no taint punch. I've got some ideas on the format to present this, but it will take a bit. Leave this with me, but I like the idea.
