I'm looking at putting in R20 batt in the ceiling and then putting in R20 sprayed insulation over it. I have lots of R20 batt insulation, so I may as well use it. Was the cost for the sprayed insulation reasonable? In my case, I'm way out in the country, so to get someone in to spray in the insulation will be more than in the city.

You can rent a machine and spray it in your own ceiling for cheap. Probably cheaper than the batts.

Do you have room for R40? You can just stack 2 layers of R20 if you want to use batts. I was surprised that my R40 was just 2 R20's lightly glued together.

If you do that, cross the direction of the layers of batts so you don't have seams lining up where you'd get gaps over time. Also helps lock everything together.

Yeah, I have room for R40 batts. Anyway, I'm going to look at both spray insulation and an additional layer of R20 batt.

Yes, that is exactly what I was going to do if I use batts. I would install the top layer perpendicular to the bottom layer. It's a bit more work, but it would eliminate the "thermal bridging" at the trusses. That's the nice thing about adding sprayed insulation over top of the batts - it would fill in around protrusions, etc. and give you a more complete thermal barrier.

Holy crap, that's a huge ass garage. The fans look ridiculous in scale, couldn't you have found larger fans?

Is that rectangle in the floor a drain to the sanitary sewer?

No it goes just ourside the garage and drains in the yard. I live on an acerage. I do what I want. The first 2 bays I guess are sloped towards it and the third bay is workshop and is level.

Now that the concrete is poured we’re on the home stretch. Get my doors up and interior walls done. Hopefully goes quick now.

I've been stalled out on drywall ever since the north pole set up residence in early Feb.
