They ususlly carry 14 forwards do they not? My guess is Ruzicka stays up.

so 5 more cuts to get to 23.
Assuming Wolf and Poirier are eventually sent down, that leaves 3, 4 when Kylington returns. The following players need to pass through waivers. Ruzicka, Mackey, Valimaki, Meloche.
The following are on PTO, Stone, Eakin and Milano.

No need to carry 14 if your call ups are in town.

My gut feel says Milano released. Valimaki, Meloche sent down. Valimaki might get traded if anyone wants him.
Stone and Eakin retained. Will be interesting when Kylington comes back. My guess is Stone goes down. Make it known that he’s retire if anyone claims hime.

In terms of the cuts, no surprises....
Next round of cuts, should be interesting.
Ruzicka, needs to play center. So I expect he is likely waived.

He really doesn’t. The odds of a 140 pound player making it in the NHL is astronomical and unheard of. No one is going to claim him. His next shot will be as an UFA next summer and maybe someone will sign him to a PTO or an AHL contract. He’ll be best served being a star player in one of the Euro-leagues where the game is more open and he can bank some cash.

The odds are also pretty astronomical for a guy who's as productive in the A as Phillips to sign AHL-only contracts when he's 25

People say this every year, and every year most of these 'tweeners pass no problem. Every team has their version of Ruzicka that they know better and would like to hang onto. I don't see anything in the pre-season that makes me think someone is eyeing him with a watering mouth.
Same thing with Valimaki, but probably moreso since he legitimately sucked.

Why would anyone pay him Scorp? What’s the benefit? You pay guys with potential to help your team and his NHL dream is dead. Phillips could make more money in Europe. No one is paying him a huge amount of money to be a career minor leaguer in a development league for the NHL.

Disappointed about waiving Phillips. Sure, he probably won’t be an impact guy but considering the absolute scrubs that are still on the team it’s pretty sad. Have fun in Tampa’s top six probably.

You've been saying his NHL dream was dead since he was 21 and he's signed two NHL deals since.
Glenn Gawdin and Austin Czarnik were pursued by 20 teams as UFAs. Would be 0% surprised to see the same with Phillips a year from now.

Sure but Ruzicka is not a tweezer imo, he has been dominant in AHL and barely given a shot in the NHL, the only reason he might not make the team is because we are one of the deepest teams at Center. There is no reason for a team that is looking to add a 3rd line Center to not give him a shot. He has all the right tools and skill, just needs to build consistency. I would bet a lot of money that he gets claimed, just needs to watch his play from last year to understand that he might be able to make it as a skilled top 9 Center.

Why you wouldn’t want to see young guys with upside potentially reach that upside instead of the same old dump and change dusters that plague our bottom 6 every year is beyond me. Just one of them on line 4 won’t hurt, Darryl.

what's the benefit of having the young players on line 4 playing a checking role for 5 minutes a game?
