I had to look it up, because my original theory of “GSVA = Goals Scored Very Awesomely” wasn’t making a lot sense as I was looking at various ratings on other teams.
So… fresh from the internet, for anyone curious…
Quote:
So whats GSVA, well it stands for Game Score Value Added, or in Hockey Terms, using formulas with their Stats, how do they impact the game in 1 stat. So a great article for the NHL GSVA, https://hockey-graphs.com/2016/07/13/mea...ame-score/
This is a great way to get into it(I used it when I was making my own, as well as some stuff from his writing at The Athletic). If you read the athletic Dom Luszczyszyn is a known person in the hockey community there.
Anyway, so a TLDR of the article is that he makes a way to calculate a Game Score to see the way a player impacts the game, either in a single game or through out the season.
So the way he calculates it is this
Player Game Score = (0.75 * G) + (0.7 * A1) + (0.55 * A2) + (0.075 * SOG) + (0.05 * BLK) + (0.15 * PD) – (0.15 * PT) + (0.01 * FOW) – (0.01 * FOL) + (0.05 * CF) – (0.05 * CA) + (0.15 * GF) – (0.15* GA)
Where G = Goals, A1 = Primary assists, A2 = Secondary Assits, SOG = Shots on Goal, BLK = Shots blocked, PD = Penalties Drawn, PT = Penalties Taken, FOW and FOL is obviously faceoff win/.loss, CF and CA is corsi for and corsi against and GF and GA is Goals For and Goals against.

This is what their players are going to have to do if they want more ice time.

I think he stick out his chicken wing as well as targeting the head. In my eyes, 10 games minimum.

I came across this article, dated late last season, that indicates the Oilers have $896k in LTIR/Bonus overages to carry over into this season.
https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2022...p-overage.html
With Capfriendly, showing the Oilers still being well over the cap, -$7,579,333 less LTIR of Smith & Klefbom, of $6,367,000 that would be $1.2m over.
Is this accurate? That's over $2m that needs to be moved out, within the next week.
Valimaki for Puljujärvi & a 1st.

And I am mistaken. Capfriendly has that $896k of overages factored into their calculations. If you scroll down the Team page on Capfriendly, you'll find the overage beside Cap Hit Statistics. https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/oilers
Still though, they are $1.2m over.

Could there be something more nefarious at play, related to the cap credit from the Duncan Keith retirement?

The Athletic ranks the Oilers 10th in their season preview. They're counting down from 32, currently on 9 with Pittsburgh, still haven't done the Flames. Meaning we're in the top 8 at least and ranked higher than the Oilers.
|
Where we at with this?
I've been waiting for the Flames to show up, but so far nothing.
I sent the Oiler one to my Oiler buddies, I can't wait to send the Flames one.
