I was a massive Mews booster pre draft. Was super happy when they snagged him and even happier now. Feels like Razz 2.0

Very similar point totals actually. Mews is slightly ahead only if you consider this and last year yo Andersson's two years in the O. If you count Mews first year of junior compared to Ras playing pro as a 15/16 year old, I'd say they're almost a perfect comparison, points wise.

He’s not a college player, if he doesn’t want to sign in Calgary, he has to go back into the draft after next year and he’s Canadian.

Dec.20th:
Misa gets no points, and was -1 (16/28 in faceoffs) in a 6-4 loss to Niagara. He is tied for 7th in scoring (11th in plus/minus) with 32gp/21g/27a/48pts,+19, 2 PIM.
Battaglia is named third star in a 4-1 win over the Petes, with 1g, 1a, and +1. He is 17th in scoring, with 33gp/20g/23a/43pts,-2, 18 PIM.
Mews gets third star honors in a 6-3 loss to Kitchener, with 1a and -1. He is tied for 2nd in scoring by D, with 32gp/9g/35a/44pts,even, 32 PIM.
No points for Parekh, despite piling up a game-high 9 shots, in a 6-3 loss to Flint. He is 4th in scoring by D, with 28gp/11g/25a/36pts,+7, 47 PIM.
The OHL and QMJHL are now on hiatus until the 28th, while the WHL is back on the 27th- because we work harder out west.

I would give our stable of prospects a solid "B+", as I believe we have the best group of young rearguards in the league by far, though we may lack a true prototypical stud.
At forward, we have excellent wingers, but we're badly in need of young centers in the pipeline. I still like Lipinski, though he's struggling this season, and I believe Misa will be a winger at the NHL level. Our best CHL prospect (Honzek) has obviously graduated to pro. No goalie prospects, but good goalies don't come out of the CHL like they used to.
Anyone else have thoughts?

Pretty much agree with everything, though I think Parekh is a bonafide blue chip prospect for sure.
I'm out on Lipinski, I don't think the Flames will offer him a contract, not with the number of picks we are looking to sign in the near future.

An AHL deal is possible for Lipinski, I guess.

I wonder if Lip is dealing with some sort of injury, or was maybe injured at the end of camp, which in turn derailed his season. There was a period at the beginning of the WHL season where he was in limbo, and we were all asking where he was- he wasn’t on the Wranglers, or anywhere else. I know that Vancouver had to trade an overager to make room for him, so that’s most likely the reason.
Hopefully he didn’t show up to camp out of shape, or anything like that.

You have to think the shooting % of ~9% will improve a bit and pucks will start going in, right? RIGHT?

He was assigned to Wranglers camp on Sept. 28 and he was with that group until he was sent back to the Giants on Oct. 16. I don't think there was ever much of a limbo period for him.

Dec.27th:
Lipinski gets 1a, was +2, and went 8/13 on faceoffs in a 4-3 OT victory over Kamloops. Draft-eligible Cameron Schmidt scored the winner, unassisted. Lipinski is 23gp/3g/13a/16pts,-2, 22 PIM.
No points for Jamieson, and a -1 in a 5-3 win over Seattle. 33gp/7g/14a/21pts,+25, 31 PIM, tied for 8th in plus/minus, and tied for 21st in WHL scoring by D. 2025 Draft-eligible D Radim Mrtka (6'6",198lbs), who is expected to be selected in the first round, has joined the Thunderbirds after playing in 3 different tiers of hockey in Czechia so far this season. Despite having to adjust to playing in North America on one of the worst teams in the WHL, he has so far put up 10gp/2g/6a/8pts,+3, 10 PIM. Very impressive. Strangely enough, he is already tied for 2nd in D scoring on the T-Birds.
All zeroes for Laing, as the Cougs beat Victoria, 2-1 in a SO with Koehn Ziemmer scoring the winner. Laing is at 31gp/9g/11a/20pts,+7, 22 PIM.
