My thoughts on Neal:
His shot appears to be weaker than I remember thinking it was when he was with other teams
I agree with you on his positioning, he seems to be off on his timing and when he skates to the scoring areas (for him traditionally, near the crease.
His skating wasn't ever going to be super strong with the flames but it appears he lost more than a step this season
Worried about a knee injury, how many times in any pro sport has a guy come back stronger and faster after a knee injury? I'd say you could argue Adrian Peterson when he blew out his acl but that might be it.
Hopefully Neal figures out where he can score from, and gets his timing and positioning going a bit better, because we need him down the stretch here big time.

Neal isn’t slow, he is selectively lazy. When he has the puck on his stick he skates fine. When the other team has the puck he turns into Jagr. His entire defensive game is reaching and poking, but most of the time the opponent is too far away for Neal to cause a turnover.
Even if the scoring doesn’t come there are still areas where he can improve drastically.

NYI will be looking to avenge the loss plus they have some key injured guys coming back in. This will be a good test and again playoff style hockey.
I hope CGY are pumped to have the team that got them this far show they can reach their goals. I'll be rooting hard for them all. They just need to keep playing their game and stay in rhythm.

Darren Haynes mentioned in a piece today that 30 defensemen aged 22 or younger have played 20 games this year. Calgary has four of them.

If we lose tonight it's because no trade deadline deals.

Even if we don't win can we get a news report anyway? Asking for a friend.

So does that mean if we win tonight, it's also because of no trade deadline deals?

Sportselect Info
Flames Win = 2.2
Overtime = 3.5
Islanders Win = 2.3
Over 5.5 = 1.5
Under 5.5 = 1.95
I'm expecting this to go to extra time given how close the last game was and how motivated the Islanders will be to avenge their loss. If it goes to a shootout with Smith back there we'll lose, so here's hoping the good guys get their 3-on-3 prowess back and sneak out of Nassau with the 3-2 OT win.

Hoping to see Monahan come alive ASAP. He's so good so it's only a matter of time before he heats up again but would like to see more urgency or jam (get to those loose pucks).

I was planning on blaming it on a Mike Smith start, but it's nice to know that we have few go-to sources for blame tonight, even if they hardly make any sense.

This is generally my take as well. The guy is 31 and has been the the Stanley Cup Final the last two years in a row. This means he's played until June while the rest of his current teammates were golfing the first week of April. I honestly think the guy is just ####ing exhausted. So I'm willing to give him time to find his game, hopefully this injury isn't serious and he can use the rest to come back ready for the playoffs. Time will tell.

The injury may turn out to be a blessing. As long as it hasn't hurt his skating, it will have given him a rest and a break so that he can start fresh.
I still think Neal has some contributions for this team yet.

Is anyone watching the pregame on SNETW? Bieksa is on there and he's a real POS. I know we all hate him, but listening to him talk is detestable. He's such an arrogant ass...

I was really hoping the all star game appearance he made as guest commentator was his last.
Just your typical jock cracking some cringeworthy jokes.
