Haha. Desperate? Pfft. I have never said to start Rittich in every game, in fact have talked about the importance of risk mitigation, in not relying on one starter, being the primary reason to give the backup starts. Seems hard for you to understand the difference, for whatever reason.

So Rittich is starting? Well I guess I can go back to enjoying the -26 weather.

We need this win bad. This place will melt down with a loss.

If a two-game losing streak causes a panic I would advise that people need to regain some perspective. The Flames were never going to have an undefeated season; they were not going to have a full season in which they didn't hit slumps or setbacks. It's entirely natural for these things to happen.
With that said, here's hoping the Flames kick ass and take names tonight.
GFG.

I don't think we can fairly use the term meltdown if we aren't referring to the 2017/2018 season.
So far this year doesn't even scratch the surface of how unbearable things were last season.

I am not worried at all. It is a late game, I will get the frog some yummy meal worms for a treat an hour before game time and give him a nice warm bath. Then he will use his froggy power to obliterate the lowly Canuckleheads!

Quick won the Cup in 2012 after playing 69 games, so 69 games seems safe. 71 games does seem too high, 69 seems just right.
Good news is that Rittich could play every single game down the stretch and only end at 60 games played, so well under that 69 limit. If he plays 25 out of 28 he will have the same GP as Crawford when he won the Cup. 22 out of 28 (79 percent of remaining games) and he plays the same as Holtby.

Good to see Rittich back in net. Would be concerning if the coaching staff was already worried about playing him as a starter, but giving him the start back in Vancouver is good news.
Most of the roster has to get going tonight though. Since the break we've seen some good games from and our depth (from Neal to Ryan), but we need to get our top guys going again and fast. SJ is 2 points behind, and if Jones maintains what we saw they'll be tough to keep behind us.
It's been a fun Vancouver team this year too, so it should be a great game. Go Flames go!

Was what you were responding to unacceptable in your eyes, or were you just posting to be the funny guy when this thread de-railed into 100% Smith talk?
Playing a backup siv that has been tough to watch all season is still a pretty legit conversation amongst Flames fans - especially considering the game before it.
Crapping all over anyone that tries to have a conversation about a goalie (nevermind in the GDT following a goalie controversy... 5 posts in) is just as annoying as lambasing Smith for every puck that goes in, by the way.

I see this game either being a close 1 goal game for Vancouver or a 6-7 goal win for Calgary

We will win if Rittich stays in his net and does not play the puck like the backup

lol. No. Having a meltdown at 9am over the possibility that Rittich won't start is not good hockey conversation. It's people panicking over every little thing.
Honestly, if you can't enjoy the best season in most Flames fans' lifetime, maybe you need a break from CP.
Relax, enjoy the season.

I can see it now... trade Bennett, Neal, and Smith. We need Ferland back.

I think the Flames charge out the gate all cylinders firing tonight and leave no doubt. 6-1 win.
