There's a great article in the Athletic today titled; ‘Complete and utter chaos’: A look inside the final days of the AAF.

https://theathletic.com/903389/2019/...ys-of-the-aaf/

Anyone with a subscription should give it a read as it's pretty sobering. I wasn't sure how the league could have folded so soon with some of the backers they had but after reading that I have a clearer picture.

They follow the Atlanta Legends for a complete day from morning to evening and it's eye opening. A hotel served as living quarters as well as training. That's right they trained in the hotel. They even converted suites to player medical and rehab. Players would stretch on the floor of the hotel lobby. The players pack into their own cars and drive to a high school field for practices and then back to the hotel. One would think that the CFL would feel totally upscale to these guys but the NFL dream burns strong as here's a snippet regarding Tavares Barnes who's CFL rights are owned by the Stamps;

Quote:
Author’s note: Barnes packed his belongings into his rental car Wednesday and was preparing to make the six-hour trip back to Jacksonville. Back home, he will drive for Uber or Lyft to make money. He’ll also try to resume substitute teaching at First Coast High School. The Calgary Stampeders own Barnes’ CFL rights and contacted the defensive lineman’s agent Wednesday morning, but his goal remains returning to the NFL.

“Just persisting,” Barnes says, “and trying to find any road I can to keep pursuing the dream.”

Must suck to be Johnny Football. He purposely gets his CFL contract voided so he can sign with AAF. And now he is unemployed making no money.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. lol

Bust. That head injury posted earlier looked like really bad news.

What a tool. Actually felt bad for him and wanted him to do well here. Turns out he is a scumbag.

AAF is official dead as it files for bankruptcy: https://www.tsn.ca/aaf-out-of-busine...ptcy-1.1292162

Interesting to read some of the fallout as well:

Reported failed merger with the XFL: https://www.mandatory.com/wrestlezon...-aaf-xfl-merge

Yeah, if a CFL team wants to sign anyone, good luck stopping it.
