The group released an ominously curt statement today, saying, "Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland." They don't give any further explanation.
"Not sure how I can be 'terminated' from a band that I founded, fronted, and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that’s something for the lawyers to figure out."
I like STP and their last studio album was actually pretty good, but they have been circling the drain as a group for a while. They need a better live show.
Their last trip through town the venue kept getting downsized, I'm not even sure where they ended up playing. I saw them at the Corral the trip before that and the show was pretty short and nothing special. I loved it because I knew all the music but I don't think it would have converted anyone that wasn't already a huge fan. After I saw them I didn't see a reason to see them again.

I hate it when this happens to performers I loved from my childhood/adolescence. grammy winning, chart-topping Boyz II Men ended up at Cowboys or some similar crap venue. and then there was one time Maestro Fresh Wes was forced to perform at some Chinese buffet restaurant...seriously, that's what I heard. it's like, just disappear and leave us with the memory of how great you were. I'm sure if the Beatles didn't break up they would have started doing gigs at kids house parties.
Rob: Bradley's our new front man. Chris: You've made your point... now, get him... out. Rob: See this? This is the new PA he brought with him. Oh and that... that's the mixing board he brought with him too. Chris: Have you heard the voice he's brought with him?

If hes back on the spike it means he will be close to another stint in rehab eventually, which means he may or may not tour or release some more music upon his departure from the rehab facility of his choosing. I think he has to do a downword spiral to be inspired.

Scott got out of a car right in front of me when I was in Vegas years ago. Nobody needs a sandwich more than that guy. Plus his outfit at the time was pretty pretentious. Still one of the best grunge/alternative singers though.
^ in that tmz article it almost sounds like Scott's wishful thinking or trying to direct the dialogue. When your band members announce that they've kicked you out of the band and they're planning a tour without telling you, I think you've been fired. He can say that they're not allowed to use the stp name without him, but that doesn't mean they're not going to try it anyway.

I wonder if the 3 remaining guys of STP will go back and try to start up "Talk Show" again?
