I can see it if the game was available on GC or CI but the fact this game is only available via stream from the Flames website is absolute b.s! The team has lots of out of market fans who will find the stream via reddit or some other source and realize they can watch every game there for free all year long. So why would someone fork out a bunch of money for an inferior product? The NHL is so clueless.

What local broadcast? What exactly is the point of blacking out a preseason game if it is not offered on GC? You are basically telling a large population of the fan base because they don't live in the teams viewing region you can't watch your team. How is this remotely good marketing sense?

Honestly if Czarnik does not come out in preseason like gangbusters I see him getting buried in the AHL for cap relief.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg

Rittich starts in net in Calgary. Talbot will play the second half of the game.

Zagidulin starts in Victoria and will split with Parsons. #Flames

Also looking forward to the "Welcome back Oscar Fantenberg" pre-game tribute.
AHL veterans can make a good salary. Buddy Robinson and Byron Froese will make $350K; Quine will make $400K
I would not be surprised if Bancks' career AHL earnings was ~$1.5M

Peters in his interview today says he wants to see what Tkachuk at #1RW and Lindholm at center (probably #2C not #1C) looks like but is unable to do so for obvious reasons.

With Jankowski being part of that Kadri trade, and Peters' desire to see Lindy at centre, I wonder if Peters was dissatisfied with Jankowski's 5v5 play at centre last year (which is justified, in my eyes).

Gaudreau - Monahan - Tkachuk
Dube - Backlund - Frolik
Lucic - Lindholm - Bennett
Mangiapane - Ryan - Rieder

No. Both he and Ferland played together in their intra-squad scrimmage.

There are a bunch of other Canucks players who are probably making the team but aren't on either list and aren't injured... Edler, Myers, Hughes, Sutter, Ferland, Markstrom, Demko.

They are all just super lazy.

... and scared. Scared ####less of the imposing, dominant Calgary Flames.

No Ferland? Are they keeping him locked up so he doesn't try to defect back to a real team?

First Flames season I'm following outside of Calgary it's still gonna be interesting to see how everything plays out this year. Will we still be on top of the west? Or will we regress? Will we actually win a playoff round. I guess we just have to wait and see. Go Flames!
