My son and I may go and check out one game, as he knows a few boys playing for the Buffs. I'd imagine they will be hanging from the rafters at Cardel.

Schedule is as follows:
April 5 Cardel Rec South 7:00 pm
April 6 Cardel Rec South 7:00 pm
April 7 * Cardel Rec South 2:00 pm

Terrific opportunity for the players playing in the game

Buffs win game one by a score of 5 - 2. Crazy atmosphere and I highly recommend checking out tonights game and cheer them on as they look to advance to Nationals. Some really great hockey being played!

Cardel Rec South at 7pm, tickets are $10.

With a 3 to 2 win in overtime the Buffs are going to Nationals.

St. Albert Slash also won the Pacific regional and are headed to the Telus Cup looking for a three peat. Nice to see two Alberta teams representing the west in nationals.

^ i am confused - how do two alberta teams make it to the Telus Cup? The Buffs beat the St. Albert Raiders to play in the Pacific.

Exciting time of all of these young players. Wonder how much of a cash call the parents have to put up

Buffs are Midget male AAA while the Slash are the Midget Female AAA.

The Slash are looking to repeat as National champs.

Typo on my part. Slash go to the Esso Cup, Bufs to the Telus Cup. Thanks Brocoli.

Too bad for Havoc and hopefully those teams can get hurt cash back. I knew Jenn when she got Havoc going. Had to hand it to her for figuring g out a way to make money from the game.

No fairy tale ending for the Buffs as they finish fourth in the Telus cup. A tremendous accomplishment for these young men to be one of the final 4 midget teams in the country, but, i’d imagine they are not seeing that today.

I’d assume most of them will take a week or two off before joining thier spring programs....

St. Albert made it a three peat on the female side, winning the Esso Cup. No other team Canada has one more than a single title. They’ve become a dominant program not just in Alberta but nationally.

Anyone else here have a 2008 kid and is crazy like us and headed to Minneapolis next week for The Clash hockey tournament?

Should be a fun week for him and us. 9 Canadian and 9 US regional teams with a 9 game round robin playing against your opposing country.

Lots of Flames connections at The Clash hockey tournament last week was pretty cool.

Martin St Louis coached the CT Jr Rangers, Brad Stuart was coaching the Western Selects team, , Chris Dingman's kid was on the Alberta team and what i thought was the most surprising of all was Guy Gaudreau there coaching the Mid Atlantic team from Philly.

Matt Cullen coaching his kid on the Central Plains team.

Was cool for the kids and parents to meet these guys.

I was most surprised to see Guy there.

The boards of the Mavericks and Lake Bonavista Breakers have decided to merge. This is great news for kids in the deep south and great to see the associations come together like this despite all the legal junk.

Makes you wonder if they banned "Hockey Moms" at the meeting......

well this weekend my son starts the tryout festivities as the goalies are on the ice on saturday. The camp games do not get going until next weekend though.

This is my sons last year of "minor" hockey. I never find the next month an enjoyable time as you are basically living day to day......

For those with interest in the female side of the game this is some very positive news. Hockey Alberta starting up a U13AA league with 16 teams and expanding the U15AA league by two teams (one each in Calgary and Edmonton) for a total of 14.

The female elite game underwent a complete overhaul about 7-8 years ago in Alberta and it's showing dividends now. The expansion is a direct result of increasing numbers of girls entering the female elite stream in Alberta.
