Is it just me or does it seem like Thornton has gotten dirtier and dirtier the last 3 years,

Way worse than I expected. Thornton powers right through Nosek's head.

Do we know if Nosek was injured on the play? Wouldn't be surprised if a hit like that did some damage.

Ryan Reaves on Thornton’s reply to the Nosek hit: “I’ve got a buddy with a grandpa who’s going through the same thing. He can’t see very well because he’s getting old. Needs glasses. If he gets suspended he’s going to have a hard time seeing from the press box”

If he's getting headshots from his son like this six times a day it's probably the reason he thinks it's ok. His brain is clearly YOP at this point.

tbh, it actually looks like jumbo tries to sidestep nosek. if you watch his skates he cuts to the right before impact.

He cuts right but still leans in with his shoulder and extends upward through the hit. IMO this looks like he's pretty blatantly targeting the head here.

He gives him the same look the strugglers give you when they don’t let you merge.

Straight ahead, I don’t see you. BS

Assuming the league benches Thornton, this will be the third already in about five days.

Last year there was six total - two three-gamers, and four single game suspensions. In 2017, there was only one suspension in the post-season, and one that carried into the post-season. Five suspensions in 2016.

Joe is never fresh, no matter how little he plays.

I think he gets 0 games. That was barely intentional

Man I wish the rumours about us almost signing him in the summer had panned out. Definitely a guy who would be a whipping boy by fans at times but come playoffs he’s a guy who players on the other team are always keeping their head on a swivel when he’s on the ice.

ehh, that was completely intentional. They could theoretically only fine him, but I can't see DOPS giving him less than 1. I doubt they give him more than one either, however.

You're kidding, right?

Rule 48 is pretty clear on what it deems an illegal check to the head, and intent is not part of the consideration. The head was the principal point of contact, and the check was avoidable. That's enough.

It's either intentional or not. It's like being pregnant.

Of course, intention has nothing to do with it.
