The last two losses were a combination of below average performances by Rittich, and exceptional work by Markstrom.

And the last time they played the Canucks, Markstrom was injured for their next game. He won’t last in a playoff series.

No need to rush Neal. It’s great he’s going to get some reps in before the playoffs begin tho

Why not play Kylington instead of Fantenberg against a weak team like Ottawa? May as well send him down at this point if he's never playing.

They must really like what Fantenberg's providing because not only will not playing Kylington possibly hurt Kylington's development, but playing Fantenberg (in the playoffs) might mean he costs a higher pick.

Personally, I feel very calm when Fantenberg is on the ice. He is very solid and I understand why the coaches like him. If I was a coach, I would love a player who helped the team reduce mistakes.

If Fantenberg is in the lineup and the Flames reach round three, giving up the higher pick will have been totally worth it.

Fantenberg was such a savvy pick up. Can totally see him being brought back next year.

No. It's just that the Flames utterly dominated the Canucks in three straight games and lost two of them because of some spotty goaltending. That's it.

And yet, you seem to have a say on how hard I am on the team?

I don't think so. The results speak for themselves: the past three games in the series the Flames destroyed the Canucks, but lost the last two because of goaltending.

Where did I do this?

Edit - Wait, unless you mean where I said I was harder on them suggesting I was being harder on them than you are?

I meant I am harder on the Flames when they play the Canucks.

Ah, understood.

In any event, there was nothing wrong with the Flames in those games other than goaltending. The expectation is that that will be different this weekend.

That’s very debateable.

Treliving was on the radio after the trade deadline and said he specifically acquired a left shot defenseman who had no term because he didn’t want to block Valimaki and Kylington long term. He said there’s were options for guys with term but that didn’t make sense.

The depth is as follows
Giordano
Hanifin
Valimaki
Kylington
and Brodie can play LD in a pinch too.

Don’t see any room for Fantenberg next year at all. There are 4 guys who will clearly be ahead of him long term.

And why would Fantenberg sign here when he can sign somewhere that has crap depth and he’ll be pencilled into the top 6? Heck he could probably play top 4 on the Oilers right now. Does anyone think he’s really be itching to sign here as a #8/9 guy? I don’t.

There isn’t really a good fit for Fantenberg here past this playoff run IMO from his perspective or the Flames perspective
