I would think the closest comparable to this incident is Adrian Peterson and he was suspended for almost an entire season.

AP got convicted though. Ben is probably a better comparable, never convicted but enough smoke he got suspended. I'm aware Hill plead guilty in college, but retroactively punishing him for that now is extreme.

the one thing about Gronk was that he was such a great blocker, even when he wasnt catching passes, he was a strong asset to the running game. Great player.

Kind of sad to see an NFL without Gronk as he was a good personality for the league as well as a great player. I don't like the Pats but I respect their accomplishments as well as their great players such as Gronkowski. Nice to see that he can walk away on top without any regrets.

Sad for my team, happy that Gronk gets to leave on his own terms. Seems like a pretty great guy. Celebrate, Rob, but not too much!

Rob is one of the those players that you'll be hard pressed to dislike. One of the best at his position ever, and a fun personality to go with it.

The Chicago Bears will host the Green Bay Packers in the 2019 NFL opener at Soldier Field on Sept. 5. This will be the second consecutive year the Packers and Bears have met in their respective season openers. Last year, the Packers rallied from 17-0 deficit to win 24-23 at Lambeau Field. Including playoffs, the Packers and Bears franchises have met 198 times, the most common matchup in NFL history. The Packers own a 97-95-6 edge in the series. The Bears won the last meeting between the two teams last season, and haven't won consecutive games against the Packers since 2007.

I don't think so. I think he will sign with NE in week 10 or 11 or whatever it has to be to be eligible for playoffs.

Just read the pre-season game in Regina won't happen. Winnipeg and Edmonton are now in the mix though.

NFL owners have approved a massive philosophical expansion of its replay review system, bowing to pressure from coaches and fans who were outraged by a missed pass interference call in the NFC Championship Game.

For one year only, pass interference -- both offensive and defensive -- will be reviewable, the first penalties and judgment calls ever to be added to the list of approved reviews. Moreover, coaches will be able to challenge non-calls for pass interference. The replay booth, in conjunction with the league's officiating office in New York, will initiate those challenges in the final two minutes of each half.

Meanwhile, owners made two expected votes earlier Tuesday. They made permanent the 2018 changes to the kickoff rule, which had been made on a one-year trial basis. They also voted to eliminate all blindside blocks, not just those to the head or neck area, to increase safety on punts and other plays.

Owners also approved a proposal that gives teams a choice in the timing of enforcement on a personal foul or unsportsmanlike conduct after a scoring play. The yardage can now be marked off either on the extra point or on the kickoff.

In other voting on rules, the NFL tabled a proposal, originally put forth by the Kansas City Chiefs, to guarantee each team a possession in overtime. The league also defeated a proposal from the Denver Broncos to give teams a one-time option in the fourth quarter to have a fourth-and-15 from their 35-yard line as an alternative to an onside kick.
