If Dallas falls out, and Arizona and Minnesota get in, Calgary will be the only Western playoff team that has ever won a Stanley Cup.
That would kind of be cool.

Where is the "Who cares" option. And why is Vegas all of a sudden the Scary team? This Vegas Narrative being thrown around by the media is annoying. Like we' are the best team in the west. Literally the #2 team in the league. And yet WE are the ones trying to lock up home ice to "avoid" vegas? Give me a break.
The narrative is who doesnt want us in the 1st round. No one should, that's who.
Whoop de do Basil, bring any and all comers. If you;re gonna win a cup, smash em all.

Updated odds from Athletic model:
Colorado 47% (+10%)
Arizona 20% (+3%)
Dallas 15% (-5%)
(games with impact - Dallas W, Minnesota L)
97% to win division
Really just one game that matters to the Flames tonight - Arizona at Chicago. Arizona needs to win to keep up with the Avs, Chicago has a game in hand on everyone else so a win here puts them in the mix, loss here and they are about toast.

The Avs have some dangerous players but the upside with playing them is that it would probably be a high scoring series which may be a good thing to jump-start the 1st line.

When do playoff schedules typically come out?
Do we think the Flames will play game 1, the 9th? 10th?

They'll have the schedules out before the seeding is finished. We'll know the Flames schedule before we know the opponent.

The mentioned on the radio yesterday that they have under good authority that the Flames will be playing on playoff opening night (Wed 10th) and on the Friday (12th) for their first two home games.

The playoffs start the 10th and the 11th. The actual schedule will only be announced after the last game is played.
Since the Roughnecks play on Saturday the 13th in Calgary, I would expect that Calgary's first two games will be on Wednesday the 10th and Friday the 12th.

Updated odds after Thursday's games:
Colorado 62%
Arizona 23%
Dallas 7%
98% to win division
Biggest game tonight is Arizona at Colorado (also Ducks at Flames, Wild at Golden Knights)
A Colorado win will basically seal a playoff spot for them, an Arizona regulation win leaves both teams tied for 8th.

Does that mean the chances of meeting VGK in Round One are down to 2%?

This is exactly how I see it, and why I'd like them to play the Avs in round 1... I also suspect it'll be very entertaining.

On the post game show the other night, Loubardias and Steinberg said nothing confirmed but both have heard rumblings that the Flames will start Thursday Saturday at home and the Roughnecks game could be moved

You make a great point in that Calgary is the top seed and that they should as such be the team nobody wants to face yet aren’t getting the same love as Vegas. Having said that, I imagine Vegas is getting the attention that they are since they’re something like 10-0-1 from trade deadline day (or were up to recently) and as such are firing on all cylinders peaking at just the right time. They’re the hot team heading into the playoffs.
On the flip side, San Jose is 2nd only to Calgary yet have lost 7 straight or something against some fairly mediocre teams there within. So while San Jose is above Vegas, they are currently looking vulnerable by comparison.
