Blows my mind that STL was last in the league early January and now are 4 points from Winnipeg and have a chance for not only home ice, but the division.

It really is amazing the turn around they've done. I mentioned it in the OOT thread, it's all to do with their rookie goalie, Jordan Binnington. The guy is doing miracles for the Blues.

Yeah, Binnington has been playing out of his mind for them. 24-4-1 with 5 SO. He is definitely a good story and will finish 2nd in the Calder because he won't play enough games.

I think 24-4-1 with 5 Shut outs and turning a teams season around is enough to warrant him the Calder. I know you're probably right and he'll finish 2nd but I don't think that's right.

No doubt it is a great season, but Petterson will probably get around 70 points when all is said and done which will be a point per game he has played. I think starting the year as a 19 year old is also worth something.

Had Binnington played and posted these numbers and ended up around 45 games (probably will finish around 33) I think it would warrant a serious discussion. Right now he is in that has he played enough games grey area. Similar to McDavid who in his rookie year only played 45 games. McDavid plays another 10 games and I bet he wins the Calder.

Here's an interesting stat...

For those of you that feel that the Flames have been stumbling backwards into the playoffs, take a look at the last 10 games for all of the top teams.

For the top 16 teams (best records as of this morning), the Flames have the 2nd best record over their last 10.

Tampa is 8-2-0
Flames are 7-3-0
all the rest of the top 16 are worse than that
San Jose is the worst at 3-6-1

Actually, let's take that a little further...

Looking at the entire league, the Flames have the 3rd best record over the last 10.

TBL: 8-2-0
COL: 7-2-1
CAL: 7-3-0

That is really surprising. The entire league has gone into meh-mode.
