For sure it was a nice strike but that should never go in. Ambitious effort paid off!

Equatorial Guinea looks really good so far. Had the bulk of the possession in the 1st half and threatened the Norwegian goal a few times. They've been impressive but still 0-0 at the half.

Edit: Some wide-open missed chances in the 2nd half. Locke's favourite commentator John Helm can't believe it. He keeps saying that these girls have "good ball control but can't find the prize at the end"

Never! I never even heard of Equatorial Guinea until the draw for this World Cup came out.

They lost 1-0 on a goal 8 minutes from time

It's true. A google search of the phrase "Equatorial Guinea looks really good" turns up this page, and nothing else.

It's like a cross between Batman and Hannibal Lecter.

Whatever helps her play, though.

Lineup changes:

Timko is in.

CdnSoccerBlog Daniel Squizzato

Timko listed as a defender. Possible that Schmidt drops back and Timko drifts forward, with Matheson marshaling midfield.

Poor clearing attempt by Canada leads to a France goal. I thought it was offside though, but I've not seen a replay, so it's hard to be sure.

Mango: it was onside.

Canadians being run ragged. The left-back position (this time Wilkinson) again fails to move forward on the offside trap.

And something is off with the midfield. No one is coming back to pick up the trailer on the right hand side.

I'll have to catch that replay later on.

Horrific defending, terrible terrible decisions and turnovers in the midfield. Absolutely no urgency. That was pretty hard to watch. The French team was far more skilled, but the only Canadians out there who looked like they gave a damn were Sinclair (who was understandably tentative given her broken nose) and Macleod the goalie. That was as embarrassing a display as I have watched from a Canadian national team of any variety.

I can't really add much...but I agree 100%. I was pretty upset at the showing. I don't know where the heart is, especially since they had it against Germany.

Wow. This is ugly stuff, little control and some pretty poor mistakes.
