Being an atheist these days sucks. Atheists seem to be the most hate-mongering, overly sensitive, whiney group in our society. I honestly can't even tell people I'm an atheist when asked because I don't want to be associated with all of the preachy non-believers that make the rest of us look terrible.

I've stopped calling myself an atheist too. It just sounds so juvenile and precious these days. Many others feel the same way.

I stand with Rocco Grimaldi. It is one thing to say that you believe in something, to believe in Jesus. It is another thing to be willing, especially as a Christian as a public figure, to be bold enough to express that publically. Nobody is forcing anyone to read his posts, and he should be free to exercise his faith like everyone one else is free to believe or not believe in what he says.
God bless Rocco.

Rocco is free to believe whatever he wants and he doesn't seem like someone who is trying to be hateful. But the attitudes he espouses in those tweets towards sex do a lot of harm to people.
Sex is flat out a human need, there is no going without. All this does is bottle the sexual desire until it explodes. The explosion can be bad in and of itself, as the sex acts engaged in are often dangerous, hurtful to people they love, and/or illegal. It also forces one to carry along a lot of emotional pain and guilt from trying to deal with denying yourself a human need 24 hours a day.
I do not respect what he says at all and I think he should shut up. People are allowed to say whatever they want, apparently, as long as they tie it in with God, because, then, it's a belief system and not to be touched by logic or science. Ridiculous.

Really? And here I thought it was the exact opposite. People can say whatever they want until they mention the "g" word and then suddenly they are being preachy and need to stfu. Case in point, if Rocco just said that women should dress more conservatively and omitted the Jesus talk, this thread doesn't exist.

I prefer to just say I'm "not religious". Atheist sounds too hipster for my liking.

I'd have the same criticisms. Sex negativity is sex negativity.
I think this would be a bigger deal if he didn't include God actually, because then he's just spouting off nonsense. He'd be labeled a nonsensical sexist and rightly so. When it's connected with God, it becomes his respected belief.

I always think the same thing when I see men telling women to cover up, that one day the police will seize their computer and find all kinds of nasty porn on it.
