Was at the Spitfires/Steelheads game this afternoon.
Misa played well. Had a couple chances, including a semi breakaway, just couldn’t cash.
My first live viewing of him and I was impressed. His play away from the puck was great. First guy over the boards on the PK, takes a lot of defensive zone face offs, really active stick and always has his head on a swivel. His speed and his defensive game gives him a really good shot at being an NHLer based on what I saw today

Man…did the Flames scouting staff hit the lottery with the 2024 draft or what. That’s some kind of haul.

Having the #1 and #2 D-men in the league in scoring is absolutely nuts.

Just imagine if they hadn't punted him down the lineup when MacDonnell came back from injury. He, Martone, and Rehkopf might have kept scoring instead of the entire team getting snakebit at the same time.

And they were still able to take a goalie and their long shot overage guy. More pics the better man. They nabbed a butt load of talent in the first three rounds

We always seem to over value our prospect pools here (or that’s my take) but this one definitely seems different big time. No more Jesper Mattson and Eric Nystrom, Chris O’Sullivan as our hope.
I do wonder what George Palawa would have become.

Parekh is currently 12th all time in OHL PPG (point per game , not power play goals) scoring by a dman. 11th is Al MacInnis- yes lots of duds ahead of him, but noteworthy of the top 12 only Parekh and Ryan Ellis born in the last 50 years
Brz is 19th by the same metric, only adding Brandt Clarke ahead of him as those born since 1975
(Mews and Dickinson tied at 47th, Andersson is 42nd)
of the top 45 PPG seasons by OHL dman, 4 have been by current Flames prospects (Brz and Parekh last year, Parekh and Mews this year)

Pelawa. There’s a throwback name.
Don’t forget Chris Dingman. Ground his way to 2 cups.
I’m with you though. It does feel different. Most of these kids won’t make it. But if they do, it feels like more than filler.
My only pause is how do you sign and develop them all. There are only so many contract and AHL spots available. At some point the Flames will need to move some out.

By all accts he was an incredible 3 sport athlete at 235lbs, for hockey he had very soft hands but used his size very well so probably closer to a top 6 winger then a bust.
Edit: found a really good Article on him.

More pics is what Conroy had on the Canucks for us to get that haul for a dud in Lindholm.

They looked so disjointed yesterday. Couldn’t get anything going offensively 5 on 5 and didn’t create much on the PP either. Martone, Rehkopf and Misa didn’t even play together on the PP. Martone and Rehkopf play on separate power plays and Misa kind of… bounced between the two units? It was strange.

Hurtig gets no points, but was +1 in a 6-0 win over Edmonton. He is tied for 11th-overall in plus/minus, with 38gp/3g/8a/11pts,+29, 20 PIM. The Hitmen have been killing it, going 8-1-0-1 in the last 10, and are now 3rd in the WHL Standings (but second in win%, at .685).
Jamieson gets no points, and was -2 in a 7-3 loss to Medicine Hat. He is 10th-overall in plus/minus, with 47gp/8g/19a/27pts,+30, 42 PIM. Everett are still tops in the WHL by points, and by win % (.781).

Going back earlier in the thread, Parekh was at 15 points through 15GP for a 1.0 PPG pace.
Since then he has put up 44 points in 24GP for a 1.83 PPG pace.
Saginaw has 24 games left. If he finishes the season at the same pace as the past 24 games, he can finish with 103 points,

Jan.30th:
All zeroes for Misa, and 10/20 in faceoffs in a 4-3 win over the Petes. He is 16th in scoring, and 13th in plus/minus, with 45gp/25g/34a/59pts,+25, 2 PIM.
Kingston whoops Saginaw, 9-5. First star was Battaglia, with 2g, 3a, and +2. He is 9th in scoring, with 45gp/29g/38a/67pts,+6, 22 PIM.
Parekh had 1g, 1a, and was -2 in that contest. He is 14th-overall in scoring, tied for 16th-overall in plus/minus, and 1st in scoring by D, with 40gp/22g/39a/61pts,+22, 61 PIM. San Jose 2nd-rounder Igor Chernyshov (2024) has joined the Spirit, and had 2 goals tonight in his first game, for third-star honours.
Morin gets 1a, and was -2 in a 6-3 victory over Cape Breton. He is tied with Gridin (among others) for 16th in plus/minus, and is 4th in scoring by D, with 43gp/10g/31a/41pts,+23, 22 PIM.
