The speed burst splitting the Leafs D in the second would've made for an epic Gordie Howe hat trick. My guess is he thought it was too good to be true and the brief lapse allows the Leaf player to knock it away.

No way I know this, but he could've been the first player to get the GHHT in his 1000th game.

It's actually unsettling to see Bert speak while exposing his upper teeth. He used to only give interviews with his lip curled over his missing teeth.
Because he always had a dip in.

Pretty big deal the Flames are making of this with the former teammates and tributes, good on them, for a player that's played under 2 seasons for them.

Class all the way from this organization, as usual, except for a few dark years.

A good game by Milan Lucic in his 1000th game, what a milestone! Set up a pretty big goal in a 3-2 OT win and a fight.

Love Looch. Glad he got to 1000 in a flaming C.

Congrats Looch, heck of a career so far.

Still hate seeing Bertuzzi in a Flames jersey, I had blocked it out.

I loved Looch when he was with the Bruins and Kings (hated him as an Oiler), had a Looch t-shirt from those 2 teams that I wore proudly. Now I wear my Looch Flames t-shirt proudly. Glad he's on our team, he's a leader and a warrior.

Quite a comeback season for him this year. One of the few nice stories to come from this season. I'm glad to have him on the team and it's awesome he achieved this milestone as a Flame.

I know he has a bad contract and all but I hope the Flames keep Lucic. I feel he is the glue that kind of keeps this team grounded right now. His experience is invaluable.

I feel so bad for making fun of Looch when he was with the Oilers but obviously it's a necessity when you wear that jersey. But he's been such an awesome teammate for the Flames pretty much since the day he arrived and everything and beyond what Neal was for this team. Definitely not just a giant dumb lumbering oaf like I always called him. Not to mention a monster when he drops the gloves and you just know he's gonna beat somebody's ass. Don't think I've seen him lose a fight here yet.

Is he overpaid? Yes. But ignoring his salary he's the kind of player this team needs and he's pretty skilled at times and a decent player. In a rough season overall, he's been part of a handful of players who have been bright spots. Congrats on 1000 to the big man!

He's one of the few players on the team that keeps improving as the season wears on. I don't recall any recent "throw the puck to the other team" moments either.

There is certainly no give up in Lucic.

If the rest of the team shared his work ethic and never die attitude, I think the Flames would be comfortably in a playoff spot.

As of last night (at least according to Hockey-Reference) Lucic is now tied with James Neal since the trade.

37 points each.

17 pts in 42 games is a 30 point pace over 82, and I think everyone would take that from a nearly 33 year old Looch.

Pretty proud of this guy.

Never once has he embarrassed this organization IMO. He's done all and more than was asked.

The fact he was encouraged by Big ern to come here and make that swap with Holland possible.

It's laughable to me that the oilers will always say they won that trade .....ha.

He had an incredible game last night. Wow. Splitting the D play was so awesome - from d zone play to almost finishing! He was so good in his 1000th game it was nuts!!

I have a lot of respect for Milan. I think he came to Calgary knowing he was essentially a bum contract swapped for an equally bum contract and he set out to prove everyone wrong by earning the respect of the fans and players, for me he did it in spades.

What started out as 'please just be better than that plug Neal' has become 'hah you gave us this beast for the real heel, really ?'

Thank you Milan and backhandedly thank you Edmonton for shooting yourself in the feet every time you get close to a trigger.
