Magnesium may help. I used this when I was having trouble with sleep as well.

Just as an aside (and info for woob if they want it), post-sleep grogginess is likely an effect of too high a dose, or too high a concentration of THC. That's why hitting the right percentage is key, and why it's advisable to start low and increase day by day until you hit a point where you don't need to re-dose in the middle of the evening (with at least 6 hours of potential sleep remaining of course) and aren't impacted the next day.

Wouldn't a prudent course of action be to try and visit a specialist to try and solve the issue instead of taking drugs every night to try and sleep? (drugs being melatonin, CBD, THC, other pharmaceuticals, alcohol etc)

Has anyone had any experience with CBD & hypertension?
I'm not talking about hypertension associated with bad diet and health, but basically inexplicable high BP for otherwise healthy individual who is early 30s.

I hear ya. Despite my long note earlier yeah sometimes the brain just won't shut the f up. it happens. for some it just happens far far too often.

Sounds like this is what's being done, with woob's partner looking for some immediate short term relief options in the meantime.
But it is absolutely good advice in general.

YMMV but it's not worth the money, especially considering how ludicrously expensive scripped CBD is in Canada vs the US.

Just wondering if it was taken every day, or sporatically. Also it's not that bad, I'm buying 60ML bottles online- 2000 Mg CBD for $65 or less. Stores are still very expensive

I just want to make a quick post to warn people to go slow, even with pure CBD.
I have smoked a long time, and continue to use THC for sleep (shuts my racing mind off, and kills my dreams which have always been horrifying and vivid and not conducive to a good nights sleep).
However, CBD makes me irrationally angry. Like, super angry. Took me a couple try’s to figure out that yup, it was CBD doing it. Unreasonably irritable about anything. I can’t take the stuff, and I don’t want to know what would have happened had I started high dosing it for an extended period. Tried looking into it and if there is ever an opportunity to participate in a study for this I will, because it worries me for others who may not be as analytical with what they put in their bodies as I was.
So just, be careful and do your research. No drug is “safe” for everyone, it comes down to the individual.

I've definitely found it makes my dreams more vivid and real seeming. Sometimes that can be a bad thing, but it's mostly good.

I have had insomnia most of my life. I even used to go a sleep clinic when I was child and tried again as an adult.
I used to take Valerian Root, which helped a little. But one thing to be cautious of is that even herbal remedies can be dangerous for some people. For example, if you have a serotonin imbalance or take serotonin uptake inhibitors, herbal remedies that produce serotonin can be dangerous. Too many people push herbal stuff without realizing that they are not always appropriate.
I have some CBD oil that I use to help me sleep sometimes. Seems to work. I don't get groggy or rundown like when I take Dramamine or trazadone, nor do you get loopy like some other prescription drugs can make you. I just get naturally tired. Having said that, it doesn't shut my brain off from thinking about stressful things, so it can make you tired, but still awake all night.
It really depends on what is causing your insomnia, but definitely talk to a doctor before taking anything.
One non-medical thing that indeed did help me the most was a sleep guide that people in the navy use. Because of their living conditions, being able to sleep can be difficult so they developed a guide regarding sleep positions, focusing and breathing techniques to help you fall asleep. I don't have it anymore, but there might be something online.
The part that I found the most useful was going to sleep flat on your back laying straight. It seems uncomfortable at first, but when you get used to it, it really can help. You will still move into different positions during the night, but I believe it is the best way to get to sleep. Also, be conscious of things like stress in your jaw when you are going to sleep. Sometimes I have trouble falling asleep and do not even realize that I am clenching my jaw or grinding my teeth. The involuntary muscle contractions can prevent you from falling asleep.

CBD also has drug interactions, moreso than THC, so look into that before starting if you are on other medications.

Hey all - Just an update; She went to Co-Op and after some discussion of what her short term goal was (a break from being sleep deprived) she settled on Verywell Yawn drops. These are working and allowing her to get some sleep and rest, which is great. She's also going to setup an appt with one of the Medicinal Marijuana clinics which were recommended. This will tide her over while she's waiting for her lab appointments/tests/etc. to determine the bigger picture of what's going on.
Thanks again for everyone's input and help.

My insomnia experience was that I had a thyroid issue. Once that was resolved, I could sleep. Also, if you have a high protein very low carb diet, side effects include insomnia and constipation.

I'm here to tell you a high carb diet doesn't help a whole lot with insomnia, either.

3k is the best looking light anyways. 2700k is too warm, but 3k is that nice crisp halogen warm white light.
Nothing makes a house more unpleasant to be in than daylight bulbs (and looks tacky to boot)
