This is like going from Burma to Myanmar. It's undeniably incrementally better. It still kinda sucks.

It's a marginal improvement but nothing earth-shattering, which sucks. Oh well.

In general, I thought people loved the 2004 jersey. That had a black C with a decent amount of black trim. I'm surprised at how vocal people are on here about wanting to switch to the retro red, white, and yellow. Those are very gaudy colors. I'm very happy with the current color scheme.

Touch choice between don't like and don't care. The blue flag pushed me to don't like though.

Meh as in don't care? Or Meh as in don't like? Seems like the poll has both. Or you mean Meh as in don't like, don't hate but do care? Seems like most people should be able to sort themselves into one of the three poll options. Either you have an opinion on the jersey or you don't care, right? You really, badly need a poll option for those who care but are ambivalent to the jersey design? How much do they really care if they can't decide if they like it or not?

The jersey itself is meh. The changes were fairly minor so although it's extremely dated and probably still one of the bottom-tier sets in the league, it's hardly anything earth shattering. Retros would have been nice, but even if they'd just done something about those godawful shoulder patches people probably would've been satisfied.
Where I think people have a right to be upset is that it was a huge missed opportunity, and that particularly doesn't sit well given the level of hostility brewing between ownership and fans over the arena issue. What really stinks is not the jersey itself so much as what it represents - a front office that is both tragically out of touch with its own fanbase, and unwilling to compromise.

Am I the only one that liked the horse head's?
I think we'd arguably have the best jersey set in the league if we ran with the retros and used the Black Flaming Snot's as our alternates

This new jersey doesn't scream "I must buy it right now!" but I will probably pick one up when they go on sale (usually the Flames have a one-day sale late November-ish).

That would be presumptuous. But you are in a very, very small minority to be sure.

Nothing wrong with the scheme, it's the excessive stripes everywhere. They need to simplify the #### out of the design like almost everyone else has done.
Removing just the piping and taking away the black collar makes the top half drastically less cluttered than the bottom, which is still overloaded with small stripes along the sides and bottom fringe. It was the right move but they forgot to balance that by taking away something from the bottom as well, so now the thing is unbalanced and just looks awkward.
If their plan is to release these slightly different ones, then do another redesign in 1-2 seasons then I hope that plan backfires and only a small amount of people actually bother spending money on these. This along with the terrible excuses for arena proposals is just another eff you to what has been a loyal and passionate fanbase and it ticks me off.
I love the team but that does not extend beyond the players, bench staff and our GMs. King, Burke and ownership are making Edmonton look good these days with their decisions and interactions with the public. Making the organization look like a collection of stubborn, greedy morons.
Yes, as far as this goes, it's just a jersey. And I'm happy to cheer on the team regardless, but will be doing so without one of these on my back because I know the team is capable of much better. And honestly, we deserve better.

The things they changed mostly were improvements (no more piping, straight fonts), with only one minor change that is a slight downgrade (new style collar lace).
I'm undecided on the new fabric used for the letters. In the photos, it makes them look like cheap heat-press letters. I'll wait until I see them in use before making a final judgement on them.
All-in-all, it's a very slight improvement, but generally not significant enough of a change.
If they made three minor changes, I'd really like them... - Get rid of the lace on the collar
- Use the shoulder patch from the thirds instead of the flags
- Bottom stripe like the 2003 design and no vertical stripes on the sides

Flames unveil new Adidas uniforms
I didn't really mind our standard jersey and this is an improvement for all of the reasons already outlined. The flags aren't a great addition, but I'm honestly a bit surprised at the backlash this design gets, especially given that so many people love the 2004 jersey for some reason. If you don't like black, I find that jersey to be even worse than these ones, as the goofy diagonal pattern at the bottom adds a whole other fat layer of black on top of the pants, resulting in what looks like less net red than with these.
I imagine I'll grab one of these guys.
