Marner is what it would take for me to consider...nothing less. Nylander and a pick? No thanks

Quick Friedman hit:
https://frshockey.com/nhl/friedman-w...e-trade-teams/
He shoots down a rumor that the Canucks offered 7th OA for ROR.
Flames related: Thinks the Flames are going to try and get into 1st round of this year's draft.

I find it funny how many homer posters are on this forum. Hamilton is goos but we need to improve our forwarda drastically. Our forwards besides mony and jonny were arguably the worst in the entire league. We have to make a move and mark stone is elite when it comes to producing offense, which we desperately need.

You seem to be putting a lot of faith in Fox, Kylington, Andersson and Valimaki - even though there's a combined 12 NHL games between the 4 of them (and 0 points).
You saying he's not a franchise defenceman because two bad coaches, who had him at ages 22, 23, and 24 didn't use him on the PK doesn't mean an awful lot to me. One of those coaches hasn't been in the NHL since we fired him, and the other one just put together two years so filled with boneheaded player utilization that he's actually found his way onto the bench of the Edmonton (ha) Oilers (ha). The latter didn't even put him on the 1st PP unit halfway through the season in 17/18, and Hamilton still finished 1st overall in goals scored by a defenceman.
The Flames playing Dougie Hamilton more is one of the ways they can improve their team today, tomorrow, and 5+ years from now.
|
Having him in the roster the last couple years has sure done wonders for us we trade him for someone like mark stone then you put andersson with gio. Gio is so good he can make any defenceman look like a hamilton. Making no trades makes us a bottom 5 team.

If the Oilers would gave up the 10th OA and retained 2 million, should the Flames take on Lucic’s contract

Being in canada must be a nightmare when you massively over paid. Even casual fans in these markets know you are dragging down the team.

According to you, anybody who doesn't think the Flames are the worst team in the league is a homer. No wonder you see them everywhere.

So Europe? Not going to find a lot of takers for that contract from American teams as the only two teams that were interested in paying him a lot of money in the first place was the Oilers and Canucks.

His contract is untradeable and buy out proof, so it's completely moot how him and his wife feel about where they play.

Matheson needs to retire. One less top 9 forward? lol. He is good for laughs though. Oilers homer media fail to realize that contract is basically untradeable unless the Oilers add a key piece to move him.

$4 million cap hit is still too high for a 4th liner.

Lucic and Okposo are both bigger anchors than Brouwer. If we're talking about anchors, I'd keep the one I got thanks.

Absolutely. Brouwer has 2 years left at a caphit of $4.5 ($9M total cap impact), but if we buy him out next summer, we could save $1.5M over 3 years.
Lucic has 5 years left at $6M, and as we know it's 95% buyout proof as you can only save $3.7M, and it would be hurting you for 10 years.
Okposo is slightly better than Lucic, but has the same 5 years left at $6M. A buyout would save you $5M, but still be hurting you for 10 years.
Just terrible!

Lucic might have to do a Lecavalier and promise to retire early to facilitate a trade.

He's in Toronto. That makes him bad. I suppose if you trade for him, he's not there any more.
Seriously, I'm not sold on him as equal value for Hamilton. Hamilton has four years of consistency.

Lucic and Okposo are still NHL caliber players, albeit overpaid
2017-18 Brouwer doesn't belong on the Coyotes let alone a team that's trying to make the playoffs. Maybe Peters can salvage him a little.
The term on Lucic and Okposo's contracts is killer if they keep declining, but they are both too young to be washed up imo.
