Default What reusable masks are you wearing?

What kind of reusable masks is everybody wearing? Up until now I’ve just been using disposables or a merino wool Buff. Now that they’re required in all public places it’s time to get some dedicated and purposes built reusables. I’m seeing a lot of Facebook ads for masks and these ones look pretty good to me (other than the fact they’re sold out right now...)

https://can.airholefacemasks.com/

Does anybody have any experience with these? Or what other masks have you tried and would recommend or not?

I have some that my neighbor made and I ordered some from Mr. Coffee's mom or grandma, not sure which.

Both have the metal nose guard thing and are very good. Mr. Coffee's also came with filters, very pleased.

Ones my mother-in-law made for me. They're pleated and have a pocket for a filter.

She does this after coming home from running a major real estate company. I married into a good family.

I have ones that tie behind the head as I find them more comfortable, and they have a pouch to slide in a filter. I got them locally a while ago from a lady in the NW on Kijiji but I haven't seen the ad in a while, I was hoping after the mandate she'd be back but haven't seen it yet.

Are people actually buying and using filters? I see this “feature” on a lot of masks but nobody ever talks about using filters or that they help.

My wife bought some masks from Old Navy and they are comfy and seem to fit well.

We got a bunch for us and the kids at Old Navy. Though about making our own but materials are just so expensive. Too bad they didn’t have an opening where you could put your own metal wire in for those nose. That’s the one thing missing from them I wish they had. Otherwise they’re fine.

I would suggest buying a few and trying which ones work. Someone here mentions they like the ties better, whereas I can't stand the ties and love the ear loops. I actually gave away the ones I had with ties. I definitely prefer the ones with the wire piece that goes over the nose though - especially if you wear glasses, it helps prevent fogging up.

I've bought them from a few places and honestly haven't found one kind I love yet. My favourite is still the disposable ones, although that can get expensive now that I'm going out more, so I've been trying various reusable options.

Some of mine have pouches for filters and one set came with filters, but I haven't used them.

Ms. Furnace has made ours. The pattern she’s been using isn’t really complex or tough to follow and they fit quite well. For the first one she made for me she used a button down shirt I wasn’t wearing and the more recent ones are some other fabric pieces we have kicking around. The pattern has two layers to it, an opening for a filter, and a piece of pipe cleaner for the nose bridge. For the straps you can put on whatever you want. I’ve found a continuous loop of thin shock cord works well as you can adjust the straps to fit around your ears or under them. Really comfortable.

Looks like the in arena NHL officials and some of the players are using the Levelwear masks.

Making at home using various templates. I made two so far and deciding which style I like before making more Have a sewing machine at disposal (I haven't used one since grade 7 so a bit rusty on sewing skills) so that speeds up the process and using new flannel bed sheets as material. Can customize however I want like inserting wire piece, adding pocket opening to add coffee filter, using shoe lace to go around the neck, instead of ear loops for better comfort. This website had lots of templates if anyone is interested.

I bought a few of these:
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-health-speci...ask/1515826994
I liked them better than the previous ones I got which I found hard to breathe through. These are more breathable but you can't blow out a candle wearing it (that's my test, I saw it somewhere). It has a filter pocket but I've never used it, and the elastics are soft cloth not hard ones so doesn't hurt the ears.

I bought two from sendusmasks and I really like them.
The ear loops are adjustable, it has wire sewn into the top of the mask to hug the bridge of you're nose, and they have a pocket for filters (if your using them).

I find them really comfortable and they don't look goofy.

We just cut up some old fabric into bandanas and will use that if we ever find ourselves in an indoor public space, which hasn’t happened yet.

Can’t get much cheaper than that.

We have some from Vogmask, but they're still sold out. I ordered ours in January, thinking ahead more for the possible "smoke season" and they arrived just before COVID shut everything down - they've been sold out since, but apparently new stock will be arriving shortly.

I picked up a couple more at Bolli Imports. They sell some with a pocket for a filter, some without. Ours don't have an adjustable nose piece, but we've found a way to make them fit snugly without it. They have multiple fabric styles, for men/women, and sizes.

The most comfortable one I own was made by "Pleasant Stitches". Bought it at Sawa market in Mt Pleasant.

They took 14 days to arrive, which is why I bought the other ones so I would have some when the bylaw hit. On balance I like the local ones better.

I bought the made in Canada masks from levelwear and they are good. I also got the spandex ones from levelwear, but they fit really small.
