Default Life is too short for lines

I thought i could beat the lines by going to home depot at 8am at chinook. Was i ever wrong. About 100 people in line. Needless to say, i left. Who has time for that? Good thing Lowes has the same products, with the same or better prices and little or no lines.

How do you avoid ridiculous lines?
Have most people simply switched to ordering online?

What’s the worst line you’ve seen? How come Lowes, Wal mart, Sobeys or superstore have no line but Home Depot always does? Why does Staples have a line when they never have more than maybe 10 people in the store. Is it stores trying to make people think there’s a line so you’ll miss out, because it has the complete opposite affect on me. I don’t buy into the “fear of missing out” nonsense.

Share your frustrations or funny/strange line stories.

Together, we can save time. Life is too short for lines.

I haven't been in any lines. I did see one outside Rona on Edmonton Trail when I drove by there last Saturday. For home improvement stuff, I ordered online from Lowe's, got an email a couple days later when it was ready, pulled into one of the curb-side spots and phoned the number and my order was being loaded into my trunk within 5 minutes.

My neighbourhood Safeway has line markers outside, but I've gone early Saturday or Sunday mornings and never had to wait, as it was very quiet there.

I haven't been in any lines that last longer than usual, they just look longer because of the 2m rule.

The upside is it's a dream once you are inside the store. Sometimes the trade off is worth it.

I hit home depot at 9 am on a weekday and didn't hit any lines... but I guess that's not an option for most people.

You’ve got it all wrong. The line ups are to get in first. If you want to avoid the lines you need to go at 8pm. Also why would you go to a hardware store on the weekend, on May long of all times.

If overall time to purchase is the same then it really doesn't matter if I'm in the store or out. I'm in a line either way. Costco for example, or even just now at a butcher shop. Overall time is the same, I'm just waiting in line at a different spot. Of course not all places will be like this but right now I'm not finding a big time difference in many places I have been too.

100 person line ups are bad but I don’t get the overall frustration with waiting in line.

Relax, Use the time to enjoy the fresh air and clear your mind. Or catch up on your texts and emails or say randomly hi to someone you haven’t connected with. In a time where we all have smart phones, I don’t see why we would be bored

I think their point was in January it's going to be a lot more miserable waiting outside in a line than in, due to cold and snow and all the fun stuff that comes with winter.

Google maps will tell you how busy a place is before you go. Can't couch for us accuracy... By with the data they have it can't be that bad.

This.
I've gone to the Home Depot garden centre a couple of times and it's so nice and calm once inside, I actually appreciate the line going in.
But I am talking from Vancouver so weather while waiting to get in has been very nice.

I’ll concede that point. I read it to mean we would be sick and tired of waiting in line if we are doing it for another six months.

I’m at the my risk comfort level is pretty high point. I’m doing my best to live my life as normal as possible pre-Covid but being mindful of the hygienic protocols and respecting people’s distance. But if there was a Flames game tomorrow I wouldn’t think twice about going.

I have just had enough of the lines and just want it to be as normal as it can again.

They should have set up the Covid testing centers at Costco and Home Depot. Kill two birds with one stone while you have all these people waiting around in lines.

I've never been able to stand in lines. Ever. I can't stand it. Doesn't matter what it is, it could be the best-reviewed restaurant of all time, if I go there and there's a line, I just think to myself "Well, guess I don't get to try that!" and keep on going.

I'll drive 20 minutes to go to another restuarant just to avoid a wait of 15 minutes.

Reservations. Try them, you’ll love it. Especially for the best reviewed restaurants of all time.
