Just a quick look but the best bet looks to be maybe the Samsung TU8000, Hisense 58H78G or LG 55UN7300. I know Hisense isn't sexy but the H8G reviews very well and you get a slightly larger TV in 58" for the money.

I was kind of surprised as I thought they were doing well up here as I own a Vizio and know several people that also own them.
Argh - totally didn't know this. Will be interesting to see how Costco handles this from an extended warranty perspective - hopefully they just give store credit. My 1.5 yr old P65-F1 just developed a problem with the inputs / remote (arising from bad firmware regarding CEC inputs I think) and it's still within Vizio warranty. They claim to be sending me a new Quantum set as a warranty replacement - fingers crossed...

This aside, I really regret not going for the Sony I had originally intended on buying at the time. Quality has been flaky on this set, particularly the inputs cutting out. SmartTV functions are terrible on this and won't work unless you enable ACR, which lets Vizio mine data on the titles of what you're watching. Wouldn't recommend regardless.

Went with this one, set it up last night and threw on a 4K version of Avengers - beautiful!!! Bonus is Android TV so I can run Plex natively through the TV itself

Thanks for the heads up on this!

I bought this too to replace an old Samsung we have in our living room. Really happy with the out-of-the-box picture quality. I just set everything to auto and it seems great for Netflix, Prime, OptikTV.

Can anyone recommend a good quality TV stand for a 72' TV? I bought one from Ashley that looked really good, but when it arrived all the boards were warped so bad it wouldn't even fit together. Price range is up to $1k

Just bought a 75 inch Samsung Q80T. Upgrading from a 65 inch Samsung (circa 2013). Can't wait to experience some 4K videos.

Looks like your typical Chinese back doors are built into non-roku TCL TVs

I am super hawkish on Chinese hacking, but I think this falls more into laziness than malicious. Yet that doesn’t matter when the state now has a back door to your TV

If I was a hacker I would turn off everyone's motion settings for them.

Friend of mine works at Visions and said he had a record month for sales from people buying new TV's for PS5 and Series X

Absolutely worth putting TV's and other IOT things on your guest WiFi networks for reasons like this.

Ha. I can't stand going into a friends house and seeing it on. I feel so obnoxious saying anything, but I can't believe they are actually ok with it.

Very good point and should be done, but I fear people like the DNLA/media player that links their PC/NAS to TV. I do that with my LG TV.

So you can see where this can quickly become a hacking issue for things most people have no idea is possible.

You say IOT but what about smart home stuff such as smart plugs and lights?

Where do you draw the line for what is and isn't networked?

Those as well, absolutely.

I'd have PC's and cell phones on 1 network, everything else on another.

Things can get tricky when items on one network need to talk to items on the other but can be set up to minimize that traffic.
