Any idea when we will know if the current "restrictions" that are in place will be extended or removed on Friday? I am responsible for scheduling a hockey group that plays weekly and would like to be able to send out some notification as to whether the upcoming ice times are cancelled or not.

Also, I assume that Friday (the 27th) is still part of the closure and the earliest that things would resume would be Saturday, correct?

Note: I cant imagine they lift restrictions, but with what seems like a mini-Trump in power in this province I cant be sure what will happen.

Governing in the rear view mirror is kind of the way this Government operates unfortunately..

Also, looks like somebody got their hands slapped by Dear Leader for saying too much and is now trying to save face. Is this the actions of a government confident in their strategy?

https://twitter.com/user/status/1330588868941205504

Here's something interesting too - he says "I am not a spokesperson or involved in any decision-making around around introducting new restrictions or hospital capacity."

So our Mental Health/Addictions isn't involved in setting guidelines?

This is really coming down to the Kenney and Shandro show. Probably Kenney.

Incompetent, ineffective, and demonstrably failed leadership.

I enjoyed how she seems to be crying as she storms off the stage.

That guy is a hero.

The *Associate Minister of Mental Health* has nothing to do with the decisions being made for Public Health. Interesting....

I’ve heard word from a friend working in government that there is some preparation going on for a month long lockdown. Could start as early as this week.

Not sure what it entails or what information the their department’s preparation is based on, but just wanted to put it out there. Apologies if it ends up as nothing.

Heard something similar but held off from posting. A friend of the wifeís ďfriend who works for AHSĒ said that a 6 week lockdown is coming Monday. Iím pretty skeptical though as it doesnít seem like with how laid back the governments restrictions have been that we would take such a big jump but what do I know.

I hope so. I get tired of the mindless Kenney bashing (as opposed to specific criticisms, those are fine), but I will be disappointed if he doesnít act soon with some serious measures to get things back under control.

I am curious though, what are peopleís views of what measures should be enacted? It is a complicated issue, and I donít think there are any easy answers.

My big one would be no socializing outside your household, and set a defined timeframe so that there is an endpoint in sight. Mandatory shutdowns of businesses is something I would like to avoid, but it might not be possible.

Like I said, no easy answers, but doing nothing is not an option at this point.

The main problem seems to be people socializing IN their households though. I am sympathetic to restaurants etc as they are for the most part doing an amazing job of keeping us safe. But I feel for most idiots locking things right down is the only way to make the message hit home. Sucks that small businesses will be the major bearer of economic casualties but I donít see how else to get the people who are already circumventing the rules where possible to smarten up.

By outside your household, I mean socializing with anyone outside your household group, anywhere.

Not party at my house kind of thing.

I would like to see the following...not an exhaustive list but off the top of my head...

-Postponement of all indoor group activities as is already in place, restrictions on number of outdoor group activity attendees. Ski hills remain open, but restrictions on lodge access/operations.
-Gyms and rec centers closed
-Reduced occupancy at Extended Health Care operations and personal care businesses (physiotherapy, hair salons etc)
-All religious service gatherings closed and must be moved online only
-Further reduced occupant capacity at restaurants, however take-away and drive thru services fully functional
-Casinos closed
-Schools operate til end of November but then take December off as part of Christmas shutdown.

I am sure I am neglecting others but that would be a good start I think

They haven't supported this contention with any evidence. They've supported it by lumping inevitable household transmission (husband-->wife) with social gatherings between households.

The likely explanation is that social gatherings actually get traced pretty well, compared to the countless unknown vectors.

Greyshep, rec centres are not all closed. Mine isn’t; I’m heading there in a few minutes. There are some restrictions such as bookings required for swimming (hot tub is open with limited numbers). Exercise equipment and machines are available but some are off limits to allow distancing.

In general, significantly reduce activities where people spend time in indoor spaces with others for periods of time.

- No gatherings of any size outside a strict cohort
- Food / beverage services take out and delivery only
- All fitness facilities of any type closed
- Church services suspended
- Weddings larger than immediate party suspended
- Strongly urge all businesses to have those that can work remotely do so. Many are already but I’m sure there’s some that can still reduce on location staff.
- Schools remain open for now but high schools close mid December for a longer Christmas break. Elementary remains open as that age group would require alternate supervision and would add stress to parents unable to accommodate care.
- Retail remains open, some metering for occupancy. Some stores are already doing this though. Plan for retail (not grocery, drug or pharmacy) to have heavily reduced hours or closures Dec 24-Jan2. Mostly to deal with staff with children off school that normally use their holiday time for this.
- Funerals to be socially distanced service only. No gathering after.
- A media campaign to urge citizens to support local food/beverage services take-out & delivery.
- A large lava pit is placed at the end of the route of the moronic protest marches.
- The other things I forgot to include goes here.

I would keep personal services open this time. Haircuts/massage/spa treatments don’t seem to be a huge spreader and they should have the contact info to notify people for contract tracing.

I would make junior high and high school mandatory online and keep K-6 in person.

Leave grade 12 in school, it is the most important year IMO. Grade 12 students could be the most adversely affected by moving on line.
