Tesla will destroy the GMC on efficiency, power and range. For off road use the GMC has some neat tricks Cybertruck doesn't have at least not that we know of. But the Hummer should be better it's going to cost way more.

Cybertruck looks like it was designed by the same people that made the library up in Edmonton. If I was in the market for an electric truck, which I'm definitely not, that Hummer takes it for now

I guess I kind of get the hate for the Cybertruck design because it's definitely weird, but that one is just... crappy. Not only does it look bad, it looks boring and kind of cheap. Cybertruck qt least gives me Delorean vibes.

Cybertruck design is all utility, designed to be nearly indestructible. First time I saw the Cybertruck I thought, WTF is that Elon Musk has gone mad. But its grown on me I want one.

After that hail storm this year I'm all in. I'd be checking the radar before I went to the store and panicking for like two weeks straight lol.

GM loves cheap plastic fenders. You'd think they'd learn from the Aztek.

I'd have to see one in person to really judge but to me it looks like it was banged out of corrugated sheet metal

Initially it was to be made of "ultra-hard 30X steel" whatever that is, a very strong alloy. But that has changed now it will be made of a custom alloy designed by SpaceX that is used in their Starship.

Got the winters on the 996.
I think i may have to change the rims though, I picked these up reaaaaal cheap and they stick out 25mm further in the back, so I think the fenders will rub. At least I can swap the rubber back on to the summer rims and it’ll fit good.
How bad is fender rubbing?

How bad is fender rubbing? I dunno, how bad is taking sandpaper to the fenders.

That doesn't poke too badly, you will get a fair amount of spray off the tire.

Yeah that’s sort of what i figured. I’ll try it, and if it rubs I’ll swap the rubber.
Anyone interested in some lightly used staggered Chinese knockoff rims?

Turbo wheel fitment, I'm guessing?
It might not be too bad, I always ended up some at least a slight rub with slightly pushed out wheel fitments or wider tires, but should only be an issue over severe suspension travel, like you ramp off a speed hump or nail a pothole dead-on. I have a tendency to fit wide-ass rears on my RWDs when given the option, usually I'll run a 285 on the back if I can fit one.

Yes, it was a knockoff wheel set for a turbo 996. Guy sold the car but not his spare set of winters for whatever reason.
Thanks for the input, like you say, biggest concern is definitely over bumps. I put a strip of masking tape on the inside of the fender and I’ll see how badly it gets marked up on a drive tonight.

Do you have a better close-up of just how close the edge of the tire is to the fender lip?

Regardless, I approve of your winter 996ing. Just thought you should know that.
I would approve even more if you were to safari it, of course...

I like the styling of the Hummer. That Cybertruck is hideous though.
It's interesting, because our pre-conceptions of electric vehicles make us think that it wouldn't work as well in trucks. But when you think about it, the opposite is true: the torque, the weight, the extreme power for short periods, the ability to charge other things... it goes on and on. Everything about an electric vehicle is perfect for trucks.
They might quickly become more popular than electric cars. But I think we're going to need some more conventional styling first.

The biggest problem will be for people towing. It will be useless on, say, a long camping trip, or hauling horses, or that kind of stuff. But ya, totally good for the people who don't actually need a truck, but want one to drive to Costco with.
I think the ideal market for EV's now, which is totally missing is small commercial vans like the Ford transit connect, where people drive them all day making deliveries, or say a plumber doing 5 jobs in a day, where the battery demands aren't that high. The biggest environmental benefit comes not from the person driving to and from work, but those who drive all day, every day. Range shouldn't be an issue for city driving, I don't think.

Not long before automotive manufacturers have to have some sort of pact on vehicle power/speed, like we saw with sport bikes years ago.
