On the whole, black voters are more moderate than the party as a whole, particularly college educated white democrats. I read some interesting analysis about how many black voters didn’t align with Obama until he could demonstrate he could win over white voters. When he won Iowa, his black support rose dramatically. Backing an electable black candidate was important to this voting block.

Biden's manifesto plans to expand the ACA to cover 90% of Americans, it is effectively the simplest and most effective (ie electable) road to universal health care.
If you think universal health care is a good thing you should wholeheartedly support Biden, he and Obama have done more to move the US towards universal health care than any politician alive, far more, immeasurably more than Bernie.

Yes, black voters really aren't progressive. Only 29 per cent of black Democrats describe their political views as liberal, compared with 55 per cent of white Democrats. The progressive/moderate divide breaks along educational lines, and 24 per cent of black Democrats have college degrees vs 42 per cent of white Democrats.

Black Democrats are far more religious than white Democrats, with 55 per cent saying it's necessary to believe in God to be moral, compared with 11 per cent of white Democrats who hold that belief. Three-quarters of black American women and two-thirds of black American men pray daily.

This is an encouraging sign at least.

The Biden campaign announced two new policies on Thursday on health care and student debt that are squarely aimed at appealing to supporters of Bernie Sanders, who ended his campaign for the Democratic nomination on Wednesday.

Why it matters: The policies don't go as far as Sanders' platform, but they signal that Biden is serious about incorporating elements of his former rival's agenda in an effort to help unify the Democratic Party and defeat President Trump in the general election.

I'd say there's a strong likelihood she ends up with the VP nod.
